More than ten years after the end of "Sons of Anarchy", the members of SAMCRO are returning for a new miniseries – though not quite as initially expected. According to Variety magazine, "Legends" is described as a kind of meta-series that deliberately blurs the line between fiction and reality.

The plot begins with a reunion of the former "Sons of Anarchy" cast. More than a decade after the series ended, the actors reunite at a fan convention. But the former community suddenly finds itself facing a real-life threat that appears to be more dangerous than anything the characters had to endure during their time on "Sons of Anarchy".

This unusual idea comes from lead actor Charlie Hunnam himself, who will, of course, be returning to his former role as Jax Teller. Other well-known cast members are also returning. Among them are Ron Perlman (Clay Morrow), Katey Sagal (Gemma Teller Morrow), Maggie Siff (Tara Knowles), Mark Boone Junior (Bobby Munson), "House of the Dragon" actor Tommy Flanagan (Chibs Telford), as well as Kim Coates (Tig Trager) and Theo Rossi (Juice Ortiz). Jonathan Groff, who previously worked on "How I Met Your Mother" and "Scrubs", is serving as producer.

Nevertheless, one important question is likely on many fans' minds: What does Kurt Sutter actually think of the project? After all, Sutter created "Sons of Anarchy" and had a decisive influence on the series over the course of seven seasons. Although the showrunner is not involved in "Legends", there doesn't seem to be any conflict behind the scenes. On the contrary: Hunnam is said to have told Sutter about his idea early on and asked for his blessing. On his Instagram account, Sutter ultimately expressed his support for the project. A premiere date has not yet been announced, however.

Over seven seasons and nearly 100 episodes, "Sons of Anarchy" told the story of Jax Teller and the SAMCRO motorcycle club from 2012 to 2015. A spin-off titled "Mayans M.C." was later released, focusing on a different motorcycle club.

Series Recommendations for Fans of Sons of Anarchy

Hardly any other series has portrayed life in an outlaw motorcycle club as vividly as "Sons of Anarchy". Over the course of seven seasons, the series told the story of Jax Teller, his family, and the SAMCRO motorcycle club. But it was about much more than just motorcycles, guns, and gang wars. Power, loyalty, betrayal, and the question of how far one would go for their family were just as central to the story. So if you miss "Sons of Anarchy", you don't have to go without more of the same. There are several series that offer a similar blend of gangster drama, family conflicts, and a gritty atmosphere.

The Shield: Hard-Hitting Gangster Drama

Even though "The Shield" isn't set in the world of motorcycle clubs, there are numerous parallels to "Sons of Anarchy". The story centers on a corrupt task force within the Los Angeles Police Department that places itself above the law. The series delves deeply into moral gray areas and features characters caught between loyalty, self-interest, and the pursuit of power. It was precisely this mix that made Jax Teller's story so gripping. If you especially enjoyed the dark character arcs and uncompromising storytelling in "Sons of Anarchy", you should definitely give "The Shield" a try.

Yellowstone: Family, Power, and Violence

"Yellowstone" is another excellent recommendation for fans of "Sons of Anarchy". Instead of motorcycles, the focus here is on horses, ranches, and land disputes. The Dutton family tries to defend their massive ranch against political opponents, real estate developers, and other interest groups. What connects this series to "Sons of Anarchy" is, above all, its focus on family. Behind the seemingly simple story of land and property lies a complex web of power, betrayal, and personal conflicts. As with Jax and his family, decisions often come at a brutal cost.

Animal Kingdom: A Family on the Wrong Side of the Law

"Animal Kingdom" comes even closer to the atmosphere of "Sons of Anarchy". The series centers on Joshua "J" Cody, who moves in with his grandmother and her family after his mother's death. It quickly becomes clear that the Codys make their living through criminal activities. The story centers on family ties, power struggles, and the question of who can actually be trusted. The relationship between J and his grandmother Smurf, in particular, is reminiscent of the complex family structures in "Sons of Anarchy".

Peaky Blinders: Gangs, Family, and Loyalty

"Peaky Blinders" is also likely to pique the interest of many "Sons of Anarchy" fans. The series tells the story of the Shelby family's rise to power in postwar Birmingham. Tommy Shelby tries to continually expand his criminal operations and keep his family at the top. While there are no motorcycle clubs here, there's plenty of gangsters, violence, intrigue, and family conflicts. Above all, the central character Tommy Shelby offers a similar mix of charisma, brutality, and inner contradictions as Jax Teller.

Tulsa King: A Gangster with a Dark Sense of Humor

If you're looking for something a bit more humorous after "Sons of Anarchy," you should give "Tulsa King" a try. Sylvester Stallone plays the mobster Dwight "The General" Manfredi, who is sent to Tulsa after a long prison sentence and has to practically start from scratch there. The series combines gangster drama with dark humor and a charismatic lead character. While the tone is significantly lighter than in "Sons of Anarchy", themes such as loyalty, power, and life on the outside of the law remain central elements.

There's plenty for Sons of Anarchy fans to discover

Ultimately, there's no perfect copy of "Sons of Anarchy". It was precisely the combination of biker culture, family drama, and tragic character development that made the series unique. Nevertheless, "The Shield", "Yellowstone", "Animal Kingdom", "Peaky Blinders", and "Tulsa King" offer some of the elements that made "Sons of Anarchy" so popular. So if you're not quite ready to leave behind the world of violence, loyalty, and betrayal now that the series has ended, you'll find some strong alternatives in these shows.

Several live-action series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are reportedly in development for Disney+, according to Julia Alexander of Puck in her newsletter. And: announcements regarding these projects are reportedly expected soon. However, officials at Marvel and Disney+ have not yet commented on the matter.

Consequently, this news should be taken with a grain of salt – especially since a report on Collider just a few days ago suggested the opposite. The website reportedly learned that Marvel Studios will be cutting back on live-action series for Disney+. Exceptions to this are said to be "Daredevil: Born Again" and potential miniseries that could be developed under the "Marvel Presents" and "Marvel Spotlight" labels.

The premiere of VisionQuest is approaching

As a result, it's impossible to say at this point what the future holds for the MCU series. The only certainty is this: next up is the release of "VisionQuest." The miniseries premieres on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. "VisionQuest" is a spin-off of "WandaVision" and reunites us with Paul Bettany. While "WandaVision" primarily centered on Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, the spotlight now shifts to Bettany's character, Vision. Alongside Bettany, the cast includes the following actors: James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Emily Hampshire, and James D'Arcy.

For the android Vision, a new beginning is on the horizon in the eight-part miniseries. The official synopsis reads:

"Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run."

For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Ultron's comeback is likely to be particularly interesting. The villain, played by James Spader, gave the Avengers a hard time in the 2015 blockbuster "Age of Ultron". We're already eagerly anticipating his return. The recently released trailer for "VisionQuest", which you can watch here, offers a first glimpse:

Wonder Man was surprisingly canceled

Following "VisionQuest," Marvel still has the third season of "Daredevil: Born Again" in the pipeline for March 2027. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the MCU's live-action series after that. In any case, the cancellation of "Wonder Man" after just one season caused quite a stir last month. The end of the Marvel series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II came as a complete surprise, since it had only been officially announced in March that there would be a second season on Disney+. In addition, "Wonder Man" was well-received by critics. This likely has to do with its unusual premise, which stands out from the crowd of superhero adaptations:

"Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film 'Wonder Man.' These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry."

For his role, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was even nominated this year for the prestigious Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The fact that "Wonder Man" was canceled despite all this probably doesn't give fans much hope for the future when it comes to upcoming MCU series. But who knows – maybe there'll be a turnaround soon. At the very least, there's already speculation about whether we might see one or two series centered on the "X-Men." Some characters from the popular mutant team will appear in the upcoming movie (as we reported). The good news, though, is that the "X-Men" universe still has countless other heroes to offer who could find a new home on Disney+.

A high-profile new addition to "Only Murders in the Building": Oscar winner Olivia Colman is joining the cast for the sixth season of the crime-comedy series. The casting was announced via a video on social media.

In the clip, we first see lead actress Selena Gomez alongside Meryl Streep, who plays a recurring role in "Only Murders in the Building." The two explain that they've already managed to secure many great guest stars for the new season. But one star is still missing. Lead actor Martin Short then pushes his way into the frame, only to immediately make room for the star they actually meant: Olivia Colman. However, the clip doesn't reveal what role she'll play in the new season. You can watch the social media video here:

Acclaimed Oscar winner

With Colman, the sixth season of "Only Murders in the Building" truly boasts another top-tier actress. The British star has already made a name for herself as a gifted performer through numerous roles in film and television. A highlight of her career so far: "The Favourite." In Yorgos Lanthimos's acclaimed historical film, Colman stars alongside Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz as Queen Anne. The role brought her a great deal of attention and even earned her the 2019 Oscar for Best Actress. Next, she'll be seen alongside Alexander Skarsgård, Elizabeth Debicki, and Peter Dinklage in "Wicker." Unlike previous seasons, the new episodes of "Only Murders in the Building" are set not in New York, but in London. In addition to Colman, other guest stars for Season 6 have already been announced, including Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi, and Lesley Nicol.

A treat for Doctor Who fans

In addition, the sixth season could be particularly appealing to fans of the British science fiction series "Doctor Who." That's because several former "Doctor Who" stars are also on board for the new episodes. It was recently announced that Peter Capaldi will be appearing. Earlier reports said that Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant will also be part of the cast – two actors who have previously portrayed the Doctor, too. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent, an actor who portrayed an alternate version of the Doctor in a 1999 TV comedy special.

"Only Murders in the Building" premiered five years ago. Each season centers on a murder case solved by amateur detectives Charles-Haden Savage (played by Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez). In addition to the crime element, the Hulu series thrives above all on its humor and the chemistry between the three protagonists, who all live in the same building and share a fascination with mysterious criminal cases. "Only Murders in the Building" also stands out for its many high-profile supporting cast members. In addition to Meryl Streep, the series has already featured notable stars such as Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, and Renée Zellweger. And now, Olivia Colman joins the cast as another prominent name.

For more than two years, rumors have been circulating about a prequel series to Zack Snyder's "300". Now it appears the project has taken a major step forward. According to insider John Rocha, the series could be released on Netflix – and Snyder himself is set to direct the pilot episode.

However, official confirmation from the streaming service is still pending. In addition, Snyder's productions are often quite expensive. Financing is likely to play a major role, especially for a lavish historical series featuring large-scale battles and extensive visual effects. On the other hand, Snyder has had a major influence on the "300" universe and has already successfully collaborated with Netflix on his "Rebel Moon" films and "Army of the Dead". So it's possible that Netflix is banking on the director's strengths – he's already on board as an executive producer anyway.

The original "300" film is loosely based on the comic book of the same name by Frank Miller and recounts the legendary Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. The story centers on King Leonidas of Sparta, played by Gerard Butler, who, together with 300 warriors, faces off against the numerically superior Persian army.

A few years later, a sequel titled "300: Rise of an Empire" was released, though it failed to match the financial success and popularity of its predecessor. Directed by Noam Murro, the film takes place partly before, partly during, and partly after the events of the first film. The story centers on the Athenian general Themistocles, who leads the Greek fleet against the Persians. Artemisia, portrayed by Eva Green, also plays a significant role.

300 and 300: Rise of an Empire – An Overview of the Films to Date

The "300" universe is one of the most unusual historical action franchises of the past few decades. With its highly stylized visuals, spectacular battles, and a heavily exaggerated portrayal of antiquity, Zack Snyder's "300" caused a sensation in 2006. Seven years later, "300: Rise of an Empire" followed as a sequel that expanded on the story of the first film from a different perspective.

300: Sparta's Last Stand

The first film hit theaters in 2006 and was directed by Zack Snyder. It centers on the Spartan King Leonidas, played by Gerard Butler. When the massive Persian army under King Xerxes invades Greece, Leonidas refuses to surrender his kingdom without a fight.

With just 300 hand-picked Spartans, he marches to Thermopylae. The narrow mountain pass gives the Greeks a strategic advantage, as the Persians' numerical superiority is less effective there. Leonidas and his men confront Xerxes' army and attempt to hold back the Persian advance for as long as possible. The plot is loosely based on the historic Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Snyder, however, draws on numerous elements from Frank Miller's comic book and deliberately interprets the story as a stylized fantasy and action epic.

The visual design is particularly striking. Slow motion, digital backgrounds, extreme color contrasts, and exaggerated physiques give the film a look that is strongly reminiscent of a moving comic book. At the same time, "300" relies on brutal combat and memorable dialogue. Gerard Butler cemented his status as an action star with his portrayal of Leonidas, and the film went on to become a major box office hit worldwide.

300: Rise of an Empire: Another Side of War

"300: Rise of an Empire" followed in 2014. Zack Snyder was not the director this time. Instead, Noam Murro took over the helm. Snyder, however, was involved as a producer and screenwriter. The second film is not a traditional sequel but rather moves in part before, during, and after the events of the first installment. This interconnects various events.

This time, the focus is on the Athenian general Themistocles, played by Sullivan Stapleton. After the Persians attack Greece, he attempts to unite the various Greek forces against the invaders. The decisive conflict takes place not on land this time, but at sea.A particularly important character is Artemisia, played by Eva Green. The Persian commander is a bitter enemy of the Greeks and is given significantly more screen time than most of the female characters in the first film. Her past and her relationship with Xerxes are also explored in greater depth.

Two Movies, One Shared Universe

Although "300: Rise of an Empire" does not feature the same main character as the first film, it meaningfully expands the story. The two films examine the Persian Wars from different perspectives and overlap in several places. The distinctive aesthetic remains intact. The second installment also relies on slow motion, digital effects, and highly choreographed battles. At the same time, the plot is somewhat more complex due to its numerous time jumps.

What's Next?

After "300: Rise of an Empire", things went quiet for a long time around the franchise. However, the planned prequel could now breathe new life into the universe. If Zack Snyder were indeed to direct the pilot episode of a new series, this would be particularly exciting for fans of the films. It's not yet entirely clear which historical era or which characters might take center stage. One thing is certain, though: The world of "300" still offers plenty of opportunities for further stories – and after two feature films, the franchise could soon wage its next big battle on the streaming market.

The future of "Star Trek" has looked brighter in the past. However, there's now an update – and that should give fans of the science fiction franchise reason for hope.

Jane Wiseman, EVP & Head of Originals for Paramount+, spoke about the current state of "Star Trek" in an interview with Deadline. The website asked her about the impending conclusion of the last two remaining live-action series, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy." In response, she hinted that the team is already thinking about new projects behind the scenes – and has reached out to writers. Specifically, Wiseman said:

"It is our goal and it is our job to figure out what the next bounce of 'Star Trek' is. We're talking to a lot of writers, we are leaning on CBS Studios, and it is imperative that we figure out what the next iteration is in this franchise because it's just too important. We also are in touch with Paramount Pictures, they have a 'Star Trek' movie that's in development."

Apparently, Paramount+ is very interested in keeping the "Star Trek" universe alive in the future. However, it remains to be seen whether and to what extent this will lead to the development of new series. With the "Star Trek" movie mentioned, Wiseman is likely referring to the planned big-screen adventure by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The duo has, among other projects, directed the fantasy film "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" and has long been in talks to helm a new "Star Trek" film.

What's next for Star Trek?

It's still too early to say what the new big-screen adventure will be about. Recently, however, a rumor about the story has been circulating. According to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, we might be in for a sort of "Training Day" set in space. The 2001 thriller starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke is about a police officer's first day on the job. Accordingly, there's speculation that the "Star Trek" version could also feature a young protagonist who still has a lot to learn. However, as already mentioned, the alleged "Training Day" approach is just a rumor and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt.

Overall, "Star Trek" is in a phase of transformation. In 2017, the launch of "Star Trek: Discovery" ushered in a renaissance for the franchise, which led to additional live-action series over the following years, such as "Star Trek: Picard," "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," and "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy." Of these, only the latter two remain – though their endings have already been decided. "Strange New Worlds" will come to a close with its fifth season. "Starfleet Academy" will be canceled after its second season. A new live-action series to follow has not yet been in the works.

Idea for an Archer comeback

Last year, a proposal emerged that toyed with the idea of bringing back a former Enterprise captain. Producer Michael Sussman and actor Scott Bakula had the idea for a project called "Star Trek: United," which was to tell the story of an aging Jonathan Archer. He would now have four adult children and be the first president of the United Federation of Planets. However, the whole thing ultimately seems destined to remain nothing more than an intriguing thought experiment. Especially since, a few weeks ago, Bakula – who once played Archer – shared an update indicating that the project isn't moving forward. In an interview with TV Insider, he said:

"I'm not actively involved. A lot of fans would like to see more 'Star Trek' and perhaps see Archer be involved. But there are new people in charge of the franchise, new owners of the studio. The franchise benefitted from a rest after 'Enterprise'. There had been some fatigue with the number of shows and movies, and that may be what's happening. Nothing is on my radar right now."

Bakula played Captain Archer in "Star Trek: Enterprise." The series ran from 2001 to 2005 and spanned four seasons with a total of 98 episodes. The story was set before the original series featuring Kirk and Spock and chronicled the adventures of Captain Archer's starship crew. As appealing as a return of the space hero might be, it might actually be good for the franchise to develop entirely new characters – ones that rely less on nostalgia and more on the unknown. After all, "Star Trek" has always been about looking toward the future.

Update: It is not clear after all whether Sebastian Stan will appear in "The Batman 2" as Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. It was previously reported that he had confirmed to the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche that he would play the character. However, the relevant passage has now been removed from the interview published online. According to the website TheWrap, which claims to have learned this from two unnamed insiders, Stan was misquoted.

The relevant passage was actually about his role in "Avengers: Doomsday." However, in the originally published version of the interview, he seemed to casually mention that he would be playing Harvey Dent in "The Batman 2." People have been speculating for quite some time about which character he will portray in the "Batman" sequel. The name Harvey Dent keeps coming up. Following the commotion surrounding the interview, speculation about the casting of the role is likely to continue.

We previously reported: In an interview with the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, Sebastian Stan revealed which role he will play in "The Batman 2". It is, in fact, Harvey Dent. In the comics, the upstanding district attorney eventually becomes Two-Face, one of Batman's most famous adversaries.

However, Sebastian Stan isn't the only high-profile new addition. Charles Dance, known for his role in "Game of Thrones", is also part of the cast. Rumors suggest he might play Christopher Dent, Harvey Dent's father. Bryan Tyree Henry is also rumored to have a role; he may portray Detective Harvey Bullock. The character is also closely tied to the Gotham Police Department and could thus create an interesting connection between Batman, Harvey Dent, and the city's investigators.

Another particularly surprising rumor involves Scarlett Johansson. She is reportedly set to play the film's main antagonist: Poison Ivy. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed. Director Matt Reeves recently announced via Vimeo that the U.S. theatrical release is now scheduled for February 18, 2028.

Harvey Dent and Two-Face: Portrayals in the Batman Movies So Far

Harvey Dent is one of the most fascinating characters in Batman's vast universe. As an idealistic district attorney, he initially fights on the side of the law before a tragedy transforms him into his dark alter ego, Two-Face. Over the years, the character has been reimagined for the big screen several times – with very different results. From Billy Dee Williams to Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart to Harry Lawtey in "Joker: Folie à Deux", each actor has brought his own unique take on Harvey Dent to life.

Billy Dee Williams: Harvey Dent in Batman

Harvey Dent made his first major live-action film appearance in 1989 in Tim Burton's "Batman". He was played by Billy Dee Williams, who had not yet appeared as Two-Face at that time. Williams portrayed a respected Gotham District Attorney who, while not necessarily trusting Batman, was fundamentally on the side of the law. What's particularly interesting is that Williams was originally intended to have a more extensive arc. The idea was to further develop Harvey Dent in later films and eventually transform him into Two-Face. However, that never happened. The role was recast for "Batman Forever".

Tommy Lee Jones: The Over-the-Top Two-Face

In 1995, Tommy Lee Jones took on the role of Harvey Dent – or Two-Face – in "Batman Forever". Unlike Williams, Jones was able to play the character as a villain from the start. His version is significantly more comic-book-like and eccentric than later interpretations.

In the plot, Dent is disfigured by an acid attack during a trial. He subsequently blames Batman for his fate and transforms into the vengeful Two-Face. He is aided in this by two female henchwomen and the Riddler. Jones relied heavily on an exaggerated performance. His version of Two-Face thus fits perfectly with the deliberately over-the-top style of Joel Schumacher's "Batman Forever", but at the same time is a far cry from the tragic figure fans know from the comics.

Aaron Eckhart: The Most Tragic Version in The Dark Knight

Christopher Nolan took a completely different direction in 2008 with "The Dark Knight". Aaron Eckhart initially portrayed Harvey Dent as an idealistic and determined district attorney who wants to rid Gotham of organized crime. He is even referred to as the city's "White Knight".

His transformation into Two-Face is one of the most tragic moments in the entire "Dark Knight" trilogy. After Rachel Dawes dies and Dent is severely disfigured in an explosion, his faith in justice shatters. From then on, he decides matters of life and death by flipping a coin and blames those he holds responsible for Rachel's death for his own fate. Eckhart's portrayal is therefore less that of a classic supervillain and more that of a fallen hero. His story ends fatally in "The Dark Knight". However, his legacy still plays an important role in "The Dark Knight Rises".

Harry Lawtey: Harvey Dent in Joker: Folie à Deux

In "Joker: Folie à Deux" (2024), Harvey Dent received yet another reinterpretation. Harry Lawtey plays a young assistant district attorney who wants to bring Arthur Fleck to justice in court. While Dent isn't the central figure of the story, he plays an important role within the courtroom drama.

The finale is particularly interesting: During the trial, an explosion occurs in front of – or rather, at – the courthouse. As a result, one side of Dent's face is severely burned. In this way, the film offers a clear allusion to the origin of Two-Face without actually showing his complete transformation. Director Todd Phillips confirmed that the scene was deliberately designed as the origin story for the iconic disfigurement.

For a long time, one thing in particular prevailed when it came to the next – and final – installment of the "Fast & Furious" saga: stagnation. Although Vin Diesel emphasized on several occasions that work on "Fast & Furious 11" was underway, in the end it was nothing more than hot air—until now! In an interview with Variety, the actor provided a promising update on when filming for the sequel will begin.

In it, Diesel named a specific timeframe for the actual start of filming for the first time: It looks like December 2026 is the date! However, the matter doesn't seem to be set in stone just yet. Diesel made it clear that the start date depends on whether he can first meet certain requirements set by the studio. So, once again, his statements should be taken with a grain of salt.

The star also explained that he had worked with several writing teams over a period of about four years to craft a fitting story for the new adventure. After reading the latest draft of the screenplay a few weeks ago, he said he became emotional and even cried. For him, the script seems to strike exactly the emotional chord he had hoped for in his farewell to the "Fast & Furious" family.

However, this stands in stark contrast to the statements made by director Louis Leterrier. While Diesel is enthusiastic about the current draft, Leterrier recently stated in an interview with Polygon that he hadn't even read the script at that point. This naturally raises questions about the actual status of production. So it remains to be seen when filming will finally begin. "Fast & Furious 11" is still scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.

It wasn't until "Fast & Furious" in 2009 – and especially "Fast Five" – that the direction shifted significantly.

The fifth installment grossed approximately $626 million worldwide, significantly surpassing its predecessors. "Fast & Furious 6" went one better, grossing nearly $789 million. This proved once and for all that "Fast & Furious" had become far more than just a movie series about cars.

"Furious 7" marked what is arguably the series' greatest success. The film hit theaters in 2015 and became a global phenomenon. With box office receipts of more than $1.5 billion, it remains one of the franchise's most successful films to this day. It wasn't just the spectacular action that played a role. Paul Walker's death in 2013 gave the film an additional emotional significance. His farewell to the character Brian O'Conner became one of the most defining moments of the entire saga. Universal enjoyed enormous international success with "Furious 7". The film debuted at number one in numerous markets and set numerous records for the studio at the time.

"Family" as the Secret to Success

A key reason for the series' longevity is the importance of family. While cars and action remain at the center of the story, the emotional connection between the characters has become increasingly important over the years. Dom Toretto has become the central figure with whom audiences identify. At the same time, the ensemble cast has continued to evolve. Characters like Letty, Roman, Tej, Han, Mia, Hobbs, and Deckard Shaw have become audience favorites. Even major stars like Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and Idris Elba have been integrated into the franchise. "Fast X" opened worldwide in 2023 with approximately $319 million, proving that the brand continues to have a massive international audience. "Fast Forever" is set to be the grand finale of the main series. At the same time, the universe is already being expanded with potential new series and spin-offs. In 2026, Universal confirmed that the franchise has now grossed more than $7 billion worldwide.

The success of "Fast & Furious" cannot, therefore, be explained solely by fast cars. The series has managed to transform a simple street-racing story into a global action universe. And as long as audiences continue to crave spectacular stunts, charismatic characters, and the famous "family", the franchise's gas tank is far from empty.

It's now official: The second season of "It: Welcome to Derry" is coming. HBO has greenlit the new episodes of the horror series, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

"Welcome to Derry" serves as a prequel to Andy Muschietti's two-part "It" film adaptation, which in turn is based on Stephen King's classic novel of the same name. Muschietti also served as director of several episodes for the series. In the second season, he will once again serve as an executive producer alongside Barbara Muschietti and Brad Caleb Kane. Kane is now the series' sole showrunner; previously, he had shared the role with Jason Fuchs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Original Programming, said of the creators:

"Together [...] they will break new ground in season two, deepening the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans love to devour."

The second season of Welcome to Derry is set in 1935

It remains to be seen when the new episodes will air. However, initial details about the plot of Season 2 have emerged, already hinting at how the world of the horror clown Pennywise will be explored in greater depth. We'll get further insights into the past: While the first season was set in 1962, the new episodes take place in 1935 during the Great Depression. The focus is on the bloody history of the Bradley Gang. The bank robbers also played a role in King's original novel, "It". Apparently, they will be of particular significance in the second season of the horror series.

Should there be a third season of "It: Welcome to Derry," there will likely be another time jump. Last year, Andy Muschietti spoke about his plans to tell the story of Pennywise over the course of three seasons, each set in a different time period. He revealed to Variety:

"Our big story arc involves three seasons, mainly based on the three critical cycles of Pennywise, which are 1962, 1935 and 1908."

The cast for the second season has not yet been announced. However, Bill Skarsgård is expected to return in the role of Pennywise. After all, he played the horror clown not only in the series but also in Andy Muschietti's two-part "It" film adaptation. With his terrifying performance, he proved to be a worthy successor to Tim Curry, who had already portrayed the character in an unforgettable way in the 1990 TV adaptation. Skarsgård thus also played a key role in the success of Muschietti's two films, which together grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office.

Carrie: The next Stephen King series is coming soon

"It: Welcome to Derry" is just one of many Stephen King adaptations. The bestselling author's novels are repeatedly adapted for film and television. These include cinematic classics such as Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson, Frank Darabont's "The Shawshank Redemption" with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, Rob Reiner's "Misery" with Kathy Bates, and Brian De Palma's "Carrie" with Sissy Spacek. The latter film is based on King's 1974 novel of the same name. More than 50 years after the book's publication, another "Carrie" adaptation is now in the works – this time, however, as a series.

This reimagining of King's cult novel comes from Mike Flanagan, who most recently wrote and directed another King adaptation, the film "The Life of Chuck." Once again, the story centers on the young title character with telekinetic powers, played this time by Summer H. Howell. In addition, however, Flanagan has taken a surprising approach to his version of "Carrie": Alongside the protagonist, we'll also get to know other women over the course of the episodes who apparently possess supernatural abilities as well. Over the course of the first season, the show will explore the nature of Carrie's connection to these other characters. The release date for "Ghost Rider" has been announced. The new Marvel film starring Ryan Gosling will hit theaters on July 28, 2028, according to multiple media reports.

Just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that the new "Ghost Rider" adaptation is in the works and that Hollywood star Ryan Gosling will play the lead role. At that time, only the release year – 2028 – was disclosed, but not the specific date. In addition to the lead actor, the director was also announced: Shawn Levy will be at the helm. Under Levy's direction, Gosling will also star in the big-screen adventure "Star Wars: Starfighter," which hits theaters on May 28, 2027.

Ryan Gosling becomes the new Ghost Rider

The Ghost Rider is stunt rider Johnny Blaze, who makes a pact with the devil and thereby becomes the motorcycle-riding being with a flaming skull. In the original Marvel comics, he made his first appearance as early as August 1972 in issue 5 of the "Marvel Spotlight" series. On the big screen, Nicolas Cage portrayed Johnny Blaze in 2007. Four years later, he reprised the role in "Spirit of Vengeance." In the TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Gabriel Luna became the Ghost Rider, playing Robbie Reyes, a different incarnation of the hero.

Gosling has made a name for himself in recent years with films like "The Fall Guy" and "Project Hail Mary". It will be interesting to see which version of Ghost Rider he will portray. When Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was asked about this, he declined to reveal anything and hinted that he would leave it up to Gosling. IGN quotes Feige as saying:

"I am going to let Ryan reveal what he wants to reveal when he wants to reveal it. [...] He's a huge fan of the comics. He did come to us, particularly with a specific vision based on some particular comics, but I'll let him unveil that as he wants to."

X-Men and Black Panther 3 are also set to debut in 2028

In 2028, three films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be released: Alongside "Ghost Rider," "X-Men" and "Black Panther 3" will also premiere. First up is "X-Men": The release date is May 5, 2028. Just recently, several cast members of the new film featuring the titular team of mutants were revealed at the Disney D23 event. So it's official: We'll see Adam Driver as the villain Mr. Sinister, Inde Navarette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Maya Boyd as Storm. In addition, two casting decisions that had already been reported were confirmed: Kit Connor will take on the role of Cyclops, and Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost.

"Black Panther 3" is set to premiere on December 15, 2028. T'Challa's son is set to play a central role in the third installment. A few weeks ago, it was announced that "Alien: Romulus" actor David Jonsson will portray the now-adult prince. In doing so, he will follow in the footsteps of Chadwick Boseman in "Black Panther 3." Boseman had previously played King T'Challa, also known as Black Panther. Following Boseman's death in August 2020, the filmmakers had to find ways to continue the superhero series without him.

Disney is working on a new live-action film that centers on one of the most famous characters from "Beauty and the Beast": Gaston. And as insider Jeff Sneider reports, none other than Glen Powell is in talks for the lead role.

However, it's unclear what stage the project is currently in. Although "Gaston" was announced late last year, very little has happened since then. And, of course, it's important to note that there has been no official confirmation from Disney regarding Powell's casting. At this point, it's merely a rumor. Dave Callaham, who has worked on films such as "The Expendables", "Godzilla", and "Wonder Woman 1984", has been hired to write the screenplay.

Gaston made his debut in 1992 in the animated classic "Beauty and the Beast". His arrogant, narcissistic, and malicious nature, in particular, made him one of the most beloved Disney villains of all time. In the 2017 live-action adaptation, he was portrayed by Luke Evans.
