New Release Dates for "John Wick: Ballerina", "The Crow" and "Mickey 17"
Chad Stahelski will take part in "John Wick: Ballerina" as a producer
The year 2024 will not be exempt from postponements either: the spin-off "John Wick: Ballerina" has been pushed back to 2025, as has the eagerly awaited new production "Mickey 17" by "Parasite" director Bong Joon Ho.
Deadline reports that studio Lionsgate has announced that the action thriller "Ballerina", starring Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves, will be postponed by exactly one year from its original release date of June 2024 to June 6, 2025. This step was taken in reaction to a new contract between Lionsgate and "John Wick" creator Chad Stahelski, who will be granted creative oversight of the entire franchise. Stahelski now wants to work with director Len Wiseman to add extra action sequences and further enhance the quality of "Ballerina".
Meanwhile, distributor Warner is sure to cause disappointment with the delay of the science fiction film "Mickey 17" - after all, the movie starring Robert Pattinson by "Parasite" director Bong Joon Ho was considered a very promising highlight of the current cinematic year. Now the movie is set to be released in the United States on January 31, 2025.
However, there is also good news to report, as the reboot of "The Crow" has been brought forward: The movie, which features "It" star Bill Skarsgard, will now be released on June 7, 2024.
Lionsgate also has further exciting announcements for 2025: a new, as yet untitled work by director Guy Ritchie will be released on January 17. Henry Cavill is also returning - their current film collaboration, "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare", will be coming to cinemas on April 19.
