Paramount+ has made an impressive return to the streaming business with the successful mafia series "MobLand". It should therefore come as no surprise that a second season has now been confirmed via The Hollywood Reporter.
"MobLand" is the second most successful original series of all time on Paramount+, only surpassed by "Landman". Over 26 million viewers worldwide streamed the first episode within the first 70 days. The series also ranked in Nielsen's top 10 most popular SVOD original series for five weeks in a row.
The series was developed by "Top Boy" creator Ronan Bennett, together with "Ford v Ferrari" writer Jez Butterworth, who currently has an exclusive overall deal with Paramount+. The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie, who will also serve as executive producer.
Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren take on the leading roles in a story about two rival mafia families whose war threatens not only their own empires, but entire sections of society. The trio is supported by Paddy Considine, "Downton Abbey" star Joanne Froggatt and Jasmine Jobson, among others. It is not yet known when we can expect the second season.
