The ongoing writers' and actors' strike is to blame

It was to be expected: The ongoing writers' and actors' strike for better working conditions is causing chaos at the studios. In response, Sony announced the rescheduling of several productions. Here we tell you the new release dates.

The writers' and actors' strike is currently shutting down Hollywood and ensuring that many studios now find themselves facing the challenge of whether they still want to release their movies this year. The first postponements have already been made: The new Zendaya film "Challengers" has already been pushed back to next year, and the hotly anticipated science fiction sequel "Dune: Part 2" may also fall victim to the postponement plans.

Now Sony announced that they will not be releasing several productions this year, thus giving in to the pressure of the strikers. These include the eagerly awaited "Kraven the Hunter" with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the sequel "Ghostbusters 2" and the finale of Miles Morales as Spider-Man in "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse".

However, there is also reason to rejoice, because "Venom 3" with Tom Hardy is finally getting a fixed release date and the "Bad Boys" Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are also returning to the big screen sooner than expected.

Here is an overview of all the changes:

"Bad Boys 4": The action movie with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence gets a release date of June 14, 2024.

"Venom 3": The return of Tom Hardy as the popular symbiote premieres on July 12, 2024.

"Gran Turismo": The movie adaptation of the popular video game faces a minor delay only and will now hit selected theaters over the weekends of August 11 and August 18, expanding wide on August 25.

"Kraven the Hunter": The "Spider-Man" villain embodied by Aaron Taylor-Johnson is taking his time and will not make his debut before August 30, 2024.

"Ghostbusters 2: Firehouse": The sequel to the remake around the ghostbusters opens on March 29, 2024.

"Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse": Fans of "Across the Spider-Verse" are likely to be disappointed, as the finale "Beyond the Spider-Verse" is being postponed indefinitely - according to rumors to 2025.

"Karate Kid": The Karate Kid will return on December 13, 2024.

Nothing is known about potential postponement plans of the other studios yet. However, it can be assumed that further delays will likely not be limited to Sony productions.
