The fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
The plot picks up immediately after the events of the previous film: Shang Tsung has been defeated, but the threat to Earthrealm is greater than ever. Lord Raiden therefore sends out his warriors to recruit new champions. At the center of it all is (former) Hollywood star Johnny Cage, who stumbles into the bloody tournament rather unwillingly. Together with Cole Young, Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade, and Liu Kang, he travels to Outworld to face the cruel Emperor Shao Kahn and his army.
