The film, based on the 1847 novel of the same name by Emily Brontë, tells the tragic love story between Cathy, a wealthy young woman of the 19th century, and Heathcliff, a social outcast. After Cathy chooses another man for social reasons, Heathcliff returns to Wuthering Heights years later to confront his past and fight for her love.
