Fast & Furious: Title chaos

Fast & Furious 10" is the 11th film in the franchise, including the spin-off. The action vehicles around Vin Diesel not only fire the synapses of the audience with endless crazy stunts, but also with countless names. We took a closer look.

The original title of the first part from 2001 was "Redline". Of course, before the name change, no one could have expected that it would turn into such a big franchise. The new name sounds fast, but has undergone some variations from part to part, especially in the US versions: "The Fast and the Furious" was followed by a sequel spelled"2 Fast 2 Furious." For part 3 there was then simply a subtitle: "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift". The fourth film of 2009 then simply omitted the articles and was simply called "Fast & Furious".

Could it be any simpler? Of course: The fifth film was then simply called "Fast Five". The next step then follows the predecessor again, but only adds the number: "Fast & Furious 6" followed in 2013. Part 7 does it again like part 5, but prefers a number: "Furious 7". Well, Furious is a much longer word, sure enough. Part 8 then suddenly introduced us to a new element:"The Fate of the Furious". After the spin-off "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" then again the maximum shortage with "F9" - a new record in terms of title efficiency. And the new film? It now experiments with Roman numerals and is called "Fast X".

One thing you have to hand it to those responsible: Not to repeat a single title concept after 11 films - you have to manage that first. We are already curious to see what "Fast & Furious 11" and "Fast & Furious 12" will be called. Will the makers keep up this originality in naming until the end?
