First impressions of Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride" with Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale
The movie was originally supposed to be released on Netflix
Frankenstein's monster is and remains one of the most popular movie monsters of all time! Alongside Guillermo del Toro, Maggie Gyllenhaal will also be responsible for a reinterpretation of the icon with "The Bride". The director has now published two new images on her Instagram channel.
Both Jessie Buckley as "The Bride" and Christian Bale as the monster can be seen. The look of the characters is particularly eye-catching: "Hope" is tattooed on Bale's chest, for example. At least that's what the last three letters of the word suggest. It could therefore be that this is a clearly modern interpretation of the material.
According to initial information, it is once again about Frankenstein, who travels to Chicago in the 1930s in search of a companion with the help of Dr. Euphronius. Together they revive a murdered young woman - played by Jessie Buckley.
Originally, "The Bride" was to be filmed for Netflix - it later switched to Warner Bros. There is no start date yet. However, production seems to be making progress.
