New Transformers Movie: The Writer of It: Welcome to Derry Is Writing the Screenplay
A crossover film between Transformers and G.I. Joe is also in the works
The future of the "Transformers" franchise continues to take shape: As industry magazine TheWrap exclusively reports, "It: Welcome to Derry" writer Jason Fuchs has been tapped to write the screenplay for a currently untitled "Transformers" film.
Nothing is known about the film's plot at this time. Paramount Pictures is keeping all details under wraps. Behind the scenes, however, the studio is once again relying on an experienced production team. Among others, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay are taking on production duties. Steven Spielberg is on board as executive producer.
The new project is part of a larger strategy by which Paramount aims to further expand the "Transformers" universe. In addition to the film written by Fuchs, another spin-off is also in development. Derek Connolly, writer of the "Jurassic World" films, is currently working on a crossover film between "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe". In terms of plot, the film is set to continue the events of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" from 2023.
Last October, reports also circulated that a brutal animated series titled "Energon Universe" by "Invincible" creator Robert Kirkman is in development. In this series, too, the Transformers are set to encounter the G.I. Joe agents. Since then, however, things have gone quite quiet around the project.
The Transformers Movies in Theaters: An Overview of the Transformers' Adventures So Far
Since the first movie in 2007, the Transformers have conquered the big screen with spectacular battles, impressive special effects, and gigantic robot figures. Based on the successful toy line and the animated series of the 1980s, the film franchise has evolved into one of the most famous science fiction series in modern cinema history. At the heart of the story is the millennia-old war between the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, and the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron.
Transformers (2007) : The Start of a New Era
With "Transformers", director Michael Bay brought the popular robots to the big screen for the first time in a large-scale live-action film. The film tells the story of teenager Sam Witwicky, who is unwittingly drawn into the conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The Autobots come to Earth to prevent Megatron and his followers from seizing control of the powerful Allspark.
The film impressed audiences above all with its groundbreaking visual effects, fast-paced action sequences, and realistic depiction of the giant mechanical beings. Its enormous financial success laid the foundation for an extensive cinematic universe.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009): The War Escalates
The sequel continues the story of Sam Witwicky and introduces one of the oldest and most dangerous Transformers in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". His goal is to activate an ancient machine that could destroy Earth's sun and drain its energy. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" relied even more heavily on gigantic battles, new robots, and a greater threat. Despite mixed reviews, the film proved to be a worldwide box office success.
Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon (2011): The Epic Finale of the Trilogy
The third installment of the original series intertwines the story of the Transformers with humanity's history of space exploration. A hidden Cybertronian spaceship on the far side of the moon holds a secret that decisively alters the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. At the center of "Transformers 3" is Sentinel Prime, a former ally of Optimus Prime, whose plan to restore Cybertron puts Earth in danger. The massive battle for Chicago ranks among the most spectacular moments in the entire film series.
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014): A New Human Hero
After the Sam Witwicky storyline concluded, the series began with new main characters. Inventor Cade Yeager finds a severely damaged Optimus Prime and is thus drawn into a conflict between humans who want to wipe out the Transformers and new alien threats. The Dinobots, who made their debut in "Transformers: Age of Extinction", received special attention and sparked excitement among many longtime fans.
Transformers: The Last Knight (2017): Earth's past is rewritten
The fifth film expands the series' mythology, linking the Transformers to historical events and the legends of King Arthur. At the same time, Optimus Prime falls under the influence of the creator Quintessa and returns as Nemesis Prime to fight his former allies. Although "The Last Knight" once again relied on intense action and spectacular effects, the response from critics and some fans was significantly more subdued. This led the franchise to subsequently take a new creative direction.

Bumblebee (2018): An Emotional Fresh Start
With "Bumblebee", the tone of the series shifted significantly. Instead of a globe-spanning battle of titans, the film tells a more personal story about the friendship between the young girl Charlie Watson and the injured Autobot Bumblebee. Set in 1987, the film features designs that are much more closely inspired by the classic Transformers from the 1980s. Many fans consider "Bumblebee" to be one of the best and most heartfelt films in the series.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023): New Allies in the Battle Against Unicron
The seventh live-action film is set in the 1990s and expands the universe to include the Maximals from the well-known series "Beast Wars". Together with humans Noah Diaz and Elena Wallace, Optimus Prime and his allies battle the Terrorcons and the powerful planet-devourer Unicron. The film combines classic Autobots with new characters and opens the door to further stories within the modern Transformers universe.

Transformers One (2024): The True Story of Optimus Prime and Megatron
With "Transformers One", the franchise received its first fully animated feature film since the 1986 cult classic. The plot takes viewers back to the home planet of Cybertron and tells the previously unknown origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Even before they became the famous leaders of their rival factions, Orion Pax and D-16 were close friends. Together, they uncover a dark secret about Cybertronian society that shakes their world and ultimately lays the groundwork for the later war between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
The film impresses with high-quality animation, a stronger focus on character development, and an emotional story about friendship, betrayal, and differing notions of justice. As such, "Transformers One" represents an important addition to the Transformers mythology and depicts the beginnings of a conflict that has thrilled fans around the world for decades.

Conclusion: Nearly two decades of Transformers on the big screen
From the explosion-filled blockbusters of the Michael Bay era to the emotional fresh start with "Bumblebee" and the origin story in "Transformers One," the movies have presented numerous different interpretations of the shape-shifting robots. Each film introduced new characters, new ideas, and new chapters in the eternal battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Even more than 40 years after the brand's inception, Transformers remains an integral part of pop culture. The blend of impressive design, epic battles, and timeless themes like friendship, sacrifice, and the fight for freedom ensures that the Cybertronians' adventures will continue well into the future.
