First Images of the Netflix Blockbuster "The Electric State"!
There is no release date so far
One of the most expensive Netflix productions is finally gaining momentum, as first images from the Russo Brothers' sci-fi blockbuster "The Electric State" are now finally available!
For example, we see Millie Bobby Brown in the role of Michelle, who embarks on a journey to find her missing brother. She is supported by Chris Pratt in the role of Keats, a war veteran who works as a long-haul trucker. The two are joined by Herman, a mechanical construction machine with the voice of Anthony Mackie.
The plot of "The Electric State" takes us to a post-apocalyptic world that has been almost entirely destroyed after a war between humans and machines. As a reaction to this war, humans try to live a life without technology, while the robots have been banished to an exclusion zone. In this world, our heroes must contend with the monstrous drones that have been left behind since the big war and now roam the countryside.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, director Joe Russo describes the movie as a mixture of a science fiction flick and a classic buddy comedy and is therefore likely to deviate somewhat from the original. In addition to Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, we will also see Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan, among many others. All kinds of stars are also involved in the film in dubbing roles: for example Woody Harrelson, Billy Bob Thornton, Brian Cox and Jenny Slate.
As things stand, it can be assumed that the science fiction film will premiere on Netflix in Spring 2025. It is not yet known whether the film, just like its predecessor "The Gray Man", will also be shown in movie theaters a few days before its release.
The Russo Brothers' Movies: From Indie Breakthrough to Blockbuster Success
Anthony and Joe Russo, better known as the Russo Brothers, have made a name for themselves in the movie industry and are among the most successful directors and producers in Hollywood today. Their career began modestly in the independent film sector before they rose to worldwide fame with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Their movies are characterized by a dynamic combination of action, character development and a deep emotional connection with the audience. Here's a look at their most important movies and their influence on the modern film world.
1. "Pieces" (1997)
Before the Russo brothers conquered the MCU, they made their debut film "Pieces". This independent film was largely self-financed and was a mixture of black comedy and crime thriller. The movie was shown at the Slamdance Film Festival, where it was discovered by none other than Steven Soderbergh. Soderbergh was so impressed that he took the brothers under his wing and helped them finance their second production.
2. "Welcome to Collinwood" (2002)
With the support of Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney, the Russo brothers shot the crime comedy "Welcome to Collinwood". The movie is a remake of the Italian film "I soliti ignoti" by Mario Monicelli. Although the movie was not a big hit at the box office, it solidified the Russo Brothers' reputation as talented directors with a sense of humor and timing. Clooney even had a small role in the movie, which helped the brothers further establish themselves in the industry.
3. "Me, You and Dupree" (2006)
After celebrating success on the independent scene, the Russos took over the direction of the romantic comedy "Me, You and Dupree", starring Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon. The movie is about a newly married couple who are haunted by a free-spirited friend. Although the comedy was moderately successful at the box office, it was an important step towards commercial films for the Russo Brothers. The comedy showed their ability to work with big stars and direct a story for a wider audience.
4. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014)
The Russo Brothers' breakthrough came in 2014 with "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", one of the most influential movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film marked a turning point for the MCU by blending the superhero movie genre with elements of political thriller. Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow were at the center of a complex plot about betrayal and political conspiracies.
"The Winter Soldier" was praised for its thrilling action sequences and captivating storytelling. The Russo Brothers showed their ability to combine action with deep emotional resonance.
5. "Captain America: Civil War" (2016)
"Captain America: Civil War" was another milestone in the Russo Brothers' career. The movie brought the Avengers to the big screen, but this time they faced each other as enemies. The movie led to an emotional conflict between Captain America and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), resulting in one of the most memorable showdowns in the MCU.
The movie once again showcased the Russos' talent for handling a variety of characters and storylines without losing emotional depth. "Civil War" was a critical and commercial success and paved the way for the subsequent Avengers films.
6. "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019)
The two "Avengers" movies "Infinity War" and "Endgame" are among the biggest movie successes in history. "Infinity War" put the menacing villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the spotlight and culminated in one of the most shocking endings to a blockbuster movie, in which half of humanity was wiped out. The movie showcased the scale and complexity of the Marvel universe and established the Russo Brothers as masters of epic storytelling.
The Russo brothers concluded the epic saga with "Avengers: Endgame". The movie was an emotional farewell to many beloved characters and grossed over 2.7 billion US dollars at the global box office, making it the second highest-grossing movie in history. Their success on these two movies firmly set their status as top directors in Hollywood.
7. "Cherry" (2021)
After their huge success with Marvel, the Russos returned to smaller, more personal stories with "Cherry". The film, starring Tom Holland, is about a war veteran who struggles with drug addiction after returning from Iraq. "Cherry" received mixed reviews, but the ambitious storytelling and Holland's acting talent were highly praised.
