We're going back to Middle-earth! While two projects from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien await us this year with the second season of "The Rings of Power" and the animated movie "The War of the Rohirrim", Warner also seems to have big plans for the coming years. None other than Andy Serkis will be directing a new live-action movie.

The upcoming movie is currently titled "The Hunt for Gollum" and is said to be in the early stages of script development, according to Variety. The movie will be directed by Gollum actor Andy Serkis himself, who will also play the title role. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens will act as producers. According to Warner boss David Zaslav, the trio will oversee every step of the production. The new fantasy adventure is set to be released in 2026, but an exact start date has not yet been set.

At the beginning of 2023, Warner announced several films from the "Lord of the Rings" universe - so "The Hunt for Gollum" seems to be just the start of a new wave of live action movies. We are excited!
