A trip to the North Pole to see Santa Claus - this wish came true for millions of children in 2004 in the form of the animated adventure "The Polar Express". Now, 20 years later, another journey may follow, as producer Gary Goetzman indicated in an interview.

For many people, "The Polar Express" by director Robert Zemeckis is an essential part of the festive season and now enjoys cult status. Although there have been repeated rumors of a sequel over the past 20 years, something actually seems to be in the works now:

Gary Goetzman, who also worked as a producer on part 1, revealed in an interview with ComicBook.com that a sequel is at the very top of his to-do list. A project is currently being planned with the title "Polar 2". However, he left open whether this is really a conventional sequel. Moreover, Goetzman added that he could imagine a whole series of sequels on a variety of subjects, but that a specific realization would take time.

It also remains uncertain whether Robert Zemeckis is once again being considered as director and whether we can also expect Tom Hanks to make a return.
