News from the world of "Death Stranding": In addition to the live-action adaptation of A24, we can now also expect an animated film, according to Deadline.

The screenplay is currently being written by Aaron Guzikowski, known for his work on "Raised by Wolves" and "Prisoners". The film is a collaboration between Kojima Productions and the animation studio Line Mileage. The planned film will not be a direct adaptation of the game, but will tell an original story in the "Death Stranding" universe. Set after a series of catastrophic explosions that shook the world and blurred the line between life and death, the film promises a dark, emotional journey – in the spirit of the game.

Author Guzikowski expressed his enthusiasm for the project:

"I love the world of "Death Stranding", it's so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful; I'm so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I've long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe."

According to the producers, the content of the film is based on other animated projects for adults such as "Predator: Killer of Killers", which can currently be seen on Hulu. The "Death Stranding" franchise is considered one of the most innovative in recent years. The original game, directed by Hideo Kojima, was released in 2019 and was highly praised for its cinematic storytelling, its star cast – including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Guillermo del Toro – and its melancholy vision of an interconnected world. On June 26, "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" will be released, a new installment that also stars Elle Fanning.

Film tips for fans of Death Stranding: cinema that connects through space and time

If you love the game "Death Stranding", then you know: It's not just about pure survival, but about the connection between people in a broken world. The lonely paths through deserted landscapes, the mysterious afterlife, the quiet moments of reflection and the metaphysical search for meaning – all of this makes "Death Stranding" a unique experience. But there are also films in the cinema that capture this mood, create this atmosphere and allow us to immerse ourselves in a world that is far more than just a plot. Here are five movie tips that perfectly match this feeling – for anyone who likes to embark on a journey beyond time and space.

Arrival (2016): The connection through language

A mysterious contact from extraterrestrial visitors brings humanity to the edge of understanding. Arrival is about how communication can build bridges, even between worlds that are seemingly incompatible. Just as Sam Porter Bridges creates connections between isolated settlements in the game, "Arrival" shows that the key to everything lies in language and understanding. The quiet storytelling, slow revelations and constant struggle for meaning make this movie an emotional and intellectual experience – perfect for fans of "Death Stranding".

The Road (2009): The journey through a destroyed world

In an apocalyptic landscape, a father wanders with his son through scorched forests and empty cities. "The Road" tells of hope in a world that has lost its humanity. The silence, the abandonment, the constant danger – all this is reminiscent of Sam's loneliness and the hardships of his journey. But, as in the game, it is also about more: about the connection between people, about caring and about the belief in a future that is waiting somewhere behind the next dune.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017): The search for identity

A man in search of the truth about himself and the world that surrounds him. "Blade Runner 2049" combines cyberpunk aesthetics with existential questions about memory, identity and what it means to be human. Just like in "Death Stranding", the line between reality and illusion is blurred here. The dystopian mood, the visual masterpieces and the melancholy music create an atmosphere in which you are encouraged to reflect.

Annihilation (2018): Exploring the unknown

A team of scientists enters a strange, mutating zone where the laws of nature seem to be suspended. "Annihilation" is a visual and mental adventure that bears similarities to the mystical phenomena and the "other world" in the game. The film poses questions about change, self-destruction and renewal – themes that also subtly resonate in "Death Stranding". It is simultaneously thrilling and disturbing, a movie that lingers long after the credits have rolled.

Stalker (1979): The metaphysical journey

This Soviet classic by Andrei Tarkovsky tells of a mysterious zone that fulfills wishes if you manage to enter it. "Stalker" is a meditative tale, a slow, profound exploration of longing, faith and fear. The journey through the zone is not only physical, but above all spiritual – just like Sam's wanderings through the wasteland of "Death Stranding". If you're looking for a movie that will transport you to another dimension, Stalker is a must-see.

Conclusion: More than just entertainment

"Death Stranding" shows us that stories of loneliness and connection, of disintegration and new beginnings, can be told in many forms – including on the big screen. These films tackle the same themes and create a similar sense of awe, pensiveness and quiet hope. They are perfect if you want to spend an evening immersed in a world that is more than just the sum of its parts. Because as Sam says so aptly in "Death Stranding": "We're not just making deliveries. We're reconnecting the world."
