Showrunner and Director Found for Harry Potter Series
According to initial information, the series will be released in 2026
The series adaptation of "Harry Potter" continues to progress, as a female showrunner and a director have been found for the project.
They are Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who previously worked on the acclaimed HBO series "Succession". According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gardiner will also write the script for the first season of the "Harry Potter" series. There have also been some changes in terms of distribution: originally, the series, which will adapt all seven books by author J.K. Rowling, was intended to be exclusive to the Warner service Max. However, due to a shift in strategy and branding, the decision was made to release it simultaneously on HBO.
Warner is also promising a "faithful adaptation" of the popular fantasy series that will appeal to both new viewers and the older generation of "Harry Potter" fans. The aim is to cover significantly more details from the original books that only played a minor role in the previous movies or did not feature at all. The cast of the legendary wizarding students, previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, is to be announced "later" – whatever that may mean. A possible release of the "Harry Potter" series is currently being planned for 2026.
