"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" is currently in development
Jeff Rowe will be back as director
News from the turtles: After "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" won over fans and critics, a sequel is now in development. In this one, the Turtles will have to deal with a familiar enemy.
It was announced at the end of July via Variety that a sequel to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" is to follow. This should come as little surprise, as the animated adventure won over fans and critics alike and is already a hot contender for the Oscar for Best Animated Film.
In an interview with Variety, Seth Rogen, producer Evan Goldberg and director Jeff Rowe gave an update on part 2: the three reported that the youthful aspect of the predecessor will also play a central role in the sequel. In addition, the Turtles will finally have to deal with a familiar enemy - we're talking about Shredder. The iconic villain was already announced in the mid-credit scene of part 1 and so fans firmly assumed that he would appear as an antagonist in the sequel. Jeff Rowe has now confirmed this:
Shredder is the coolest villain in the TMNT lore. He is this world's Joker"
Originally, the character was supposed to appear in the predecessor, but due to various aspects it was decided against it.
It is not yet known when the eagerly awaited sequel will be presented to us. However, we firmly believe that "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" will also be great fun!
