Black Panther 3 Movie Preview
Some changes might be coming our way!

Wakanda forever: The "Black Panther" film series will be back for a third installment! Filming will begin soon, and the title and release date have already been set. But there are still plenty of open questions: Who will be the new eponymous hero? What will become of Shuri? And when exactly will the new Marvel adventure be set? With this update, we will bring you up to speed on the latest developments!
Black Panther in Flux
The story behind the "Black Panther" series is as spectacular as it is tragic. In 2018, the first film made headlines with box office takings of 1.3 billion US dollars – but two years later, the beloved lead actor Chadwick Boseman passed away. The sequel, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", followed in 2022 – this time with Letitia Wright in the lead role. While the movie is still considered a success, it only grossed 860 million dollars. This sets up an interesting starting point for Part 3: will the next installment turn things around, or will the earnings dip even further?
Behind the scenes, they are relying on a proven team: Ryan Coogler returns to the director's chair. He made film history with "Black Panther": as the first comic book adaptation ever, it received an Oscar nomination for "Best Picture" and won three Academy Awards in total. But Coogler's success didn't stop there: his acclaimed vampire film "Sinners" is currently in the running with a whopping 16 Oscar nominations.
One of the most exciting pieces of news for "Black Panther 3" is the confirmed involvement of Denzel Washington. The acting legend is set to take on a role written specifically for him – at a time when he has openly discussed his impending career retirement in interviews. A Marvel film as one of his last projects: this has certainly surprised many. Washington's appearance is particularly emotional due to his connection to Chadwick Boseman. Boseman had frequently shared that Washington helped finance his acting tuition and thus significantly contributed to his career. Washington's role can therefore also be seen as a silent tribute to the late "Black Panther" star.
What Is "Shadows of Wakanda" About?
The title of Part 3 is "Black Panther: Shadows of Wakanda". The name says it all: the story is set to deal with the implications of T'Challa's death and show how vulnerable Wakanda has become without its king. Political tensions, external threats, and internal conflicts will come more to the fore.
At the heart of the story is once again Shuri: she must prove herself not only as a fighter but also as a leader of Wakanda – making decisions that will have far-reaching consequences.
Meanwhile, rumors about recasting the Black Panther role continue to swirl. Particular mention is made of Damson Idris, known from the movie "F1". Reports suggest there have already been talks between him and Marvel. "Rebel Ridge" star Aaron Pierre is also said to be among the top candidates. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
But wait a minute: if Shuri is still set to be the lead, how does a new Black Panther fit into the picture? It seems likely that the character could be an older version of T'Challa's son. He was already introduced in the post-credits scene of "Wakanda Forever". But this would require a significant time jump. What's interesting about this idea is that the film will be released in theaters after the two new "Avengers" movies. As we know, the multiverse will undergo quite a shake-up in those films – with an unclear outcome. This means that either the story of "Black Panther 3" will have to work independently of everything else, or Ryan Coogler already knows where things are headed.
Of course, the multiverse also opens up the possibility of a new Black Panther: this could even mean the return of T'Challa himself – though with a different look. However, many fans are bound to find this disrespectful to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. What's really intriguing is the question of what role a new Black Panther may play in relation to Shuri: Are we in for an emotional power struggle in Wakanda? Will Shuri step down from her superhero role? Or could she even meet a tragic end? What do you think this is all about? Feel free to share your theories in the comments!
