Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist

For many Marvel fans, the question has long been: when will the other heroes from Hell's Kitchen follow suit? Brad Winderbaum, who is responsible for streaming and series at Marvel, has now made a statement on this in an interview with the trade magazine Entertainment Weekly.

According to him, they are absolutely thinking about the possibility of bringing the Defenders back into the MCU. It's all a question of time, actor availability and production costs. According to Winderbaum, all of these variables are being considered. The integration of the Defenders into the MCU is an extremely exciting creative task that is definitely being given some thought.

The return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Danny Rand and Iron Fist is therefore definitely possible! In general, Winderbaum is very open to the future design of the MCU series. Elektra, who was played by Elodie Yung in "Daredevil" and "The Defenders", could likewise return.

Such statements should give Marvel fans hope for the return of the Defenders. We will of course keep you up to date as soon as things become more concrete! Until then, you can get another overview of the Defenders here:

Daredevil

The first of the Defenders series was "Daredevil", which debuted on Netflix in 2015. The series revolves around Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights for justice by night as Daredevil in Hell's Kitchen, New York.

"Daredevil" is characterized by its dark atmosphere, gripping action and the complex portrayal of the eponymous hero. The first season presents the rise of Daredevil and his fight against the evil Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. The series inspires not only with its intense action, but also with its character development and the question of right and wrong.

Jessica Jones

"Jessica Jones" is the second series in the Defenders cosmos and was also released on Netflix in 2015. This series is about the titular Jessica Jones, a superhero who uses her powers to work as a private detective after a traumatic incident. The series deals intensively with topics like trauma, abuse and the consequences of superpowers.

What sets "Jessica Jones" apart from other superhero series is the psychological thriller aspect and the focus on the antagonist Kilgrave (David Tennant), a man with the ability to control people. Kilgrave is one of the most terrifying characters in the Marvel cosmos, and the series explores how his manipulations have permanently changed Jessica's life. The series impressively combines the superhero genre with elements of noir and crime fiction, giving it an identity all of its own. Jessica is also one of the strongest and most vulnerable characters in the MCU, making her one of the most popular superheroes.

Luke Cage

"Luke Cage" was released in 2016 and follows the story of a former inmate living in Harlem who gains invulnerable skin and superhuman strength through an experimental incident. Luke Cage is a character who fights for justice and battles crime in his neighborhood.

In the first season, Luke Cage battles criminal boss Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and his criminal empire, which becomes not only a personal confrontation, but also a confrontation with his own history and the powers he has been given.

Iron Fist

"Iron Fist" is the fourth series in the Marvel Defenders cosmos and focuses on Danny Rand, a man who disappeared as a child and returns years later as the invulnerable Iron Fist. Danny learned combat in K'un-Lun, a mystical city, and the ability to strengthen his hand with a nearly indestructible power.

However, "Iron Fist" was not particularly well received by many critics and fans. Despite the successful depiction of battle scenes and an interesting story about the hero's mystical origins, many felt that the narrative and character development were weaker.

The Defenders

"The Defenders" is the series that brings together all four heroes - Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The series was released in 2017 and brings together the individual characters to fight together against the mysterious organization "The Hand", which is a dark force in New York City.

The series focuses less on the heroes' individual backstories and more on bringing them together to fight a larger threat. This leads to dynamic team interactions where the characters initially face each other more like loners before learning to work together.

The Punisher

"The Punisher" is another series in the Marvel universe that debuted in 2017 and centers around Frank Castle, a former soldier who becomes the vengeful character "The Punisher" after murdering his family. Frank Castle, who has no supernatural powers whatsoever, is a merciless fighter who fights crime in a brutal way.

The series delves deep into his psychological development by focusing on his quest for justice and revenge, which takes him further and further away from his humanity. "The Punisher" sets itself apart from other Marvel series with its gritty, violent approach and explores themes such as trauma, dealing with loss and the moral gray area between right and wrong.
