Mexico Spin-Off Announced for "The Boys"
New markets are to be conquered with the spin-off
According to a report from Variety, Amazon is working on another spin-off of "The Boys". It is to be set in Mexico City, although exact story details are still kept secret.
Apparently, the script for the new "The Boys" series is to be written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. He last wrote the DC movie "Blue Beetle". The production is backed by the same names as "The Boys" and the spin-off series "Gen V". Together with the animated version "The Boys: Diabolical", this would be the fourth project based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
While "The Boys" season 4 will presumably be released in the second half of 2024 and "Gen V" season 2 has at least been announced, no further information is known about the new spin-off. According to Variety, however, the project fits in with Amazon's strategy of creating spin-offs of successful series in very specific settings around the world - supposedly to appeal to new target audiences. Let's hope this business move is not more important to them than the quality of the series. We are eager to find out how "The Boys: Mexico" will perform in comparison to its predecessors.
