The eagerly awaited return of the Joker keeps taking shape: The first poster has now been published, the age rating has been confirmed and a first trailer is also about to be released.

With worldwide box office takings of over one billion dollars on a modest budget of just 55 million, Todd Philip's "Joker" proved to be a huge success in 2019. These figures are also remarkable considering that the movie was given an R rating in the United States, meaning it was only approved for an older audience. As has now been announced, there will be no compromises for part 2 either: the Motion Picture Association has revealed that "Joker 2: Folie à Deux" has also been rated R. The reason for this is that the movie contains scenes of strong violence, foul language, sexual content and nudity.

Moreover, director Todd Philips published a first poster via Instagram: it shows the Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix, with Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga, in a heartfelt dance scene. The tagline fits perfectly: "The World is a Stage".

"Joker 2" is currently scheduled for theatrical release on October 4, 2024. The first trailer will come out in just a few days: distributor Warner has confirmed its release on Tuesday, April 9.
