"The Batman 2" Delayed to 2026
The sequel is not part of the new DCU under James Gunn
Fans of the Dark Knight must be strong now, as Warner Bros. is postponing the eagerly awaited sequel "The Batman 2" for another year.
According to Deadline, the film will now be released on October 2, 2026, exactly one year after the originally planned release date. There are probably many reasons for this: firstly, the writers' and actors' strike may have affected the release date, since it shut down all of Hollywood last year. Secondly, the delay could also be related to the new DCU under James Gunn, which is due to kick off on July 11, 2025 with "Superman". It is possible that they want to give the DCU more room next year before devoting themselves to the DC Elseworlds projects, one of which is Matt Reeves' "Batman".
"The Batman 2"'s old release date has now been filled by distributor Warner with Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride" - a "Frankenstein" version starring Christian Bale.
