After the Disney takeover of Fox: Will Deadpool 3 be r-rated as well?
The author and the director are probably not in complete agreement
Will the the upcoming deadpool film only be released from the age of 17 and above? Until now, this has been rather difficult, since Disney is very dependent on its family- friendly image and it is supposed to stay that way. Surprisingly, however, Deadpool author Paul Wernick revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he had Marvel's permission to produce more Deadpool films with R ratings. He said literally:
"Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox,"
This statement is still somewhat contradictory to the statement of Deadpool 2 director David Leitch, who said that a future Deadpool sequel does not necessarily have to be r rated.
Disney boss Bob Iger, on the other hand, said in February:
"We do believe there is room for the Fox properties to exist without significant Disney influence over the nature of the content, meaning that we see that there is certainly popularity amongst Marvel fans for the R-rated Deadpool films, as a for instance, we're going to continue in that business,"
What is really true is difficult to say. The only thing that seems clear is that Disney won't veto a Deadpool movie from the age of 18.
It's also still uncertain when Deadpool 3 will be released at all. That at least Deadpool 3 is being worked on is proven by a picture of Ryan Reynolds, who posted a photo of himself in the Marvel Studios on Tuesday. We'll definitely keep you up to date on Deadpool.
