This film news is truly spectacular: The Rock takes over "Pirates of the Caribbean 6"! Time travel in the grand finale of "Fast & Furious"! Netflix and Paramount merge to form a new mega-corporation and Sony plans a US remake of "KPop Demon Hunters"! We give you the first details on the next Christopher Nolan movie after "The Odyssey" and the very last movie by Quentin Tarantino. All this and more – now in the KinoCheck News!

The Rock shoots Pirates of the Caribbean 6

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is filming the next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie! For years there was no progress on part 6 – now the Hollywood star and fan of the series has obviously had enough: He has bought the rights to the franchise and is taking matters into his own hands. As we all know, The Rock doesn't do things by halves: Filming starts this summer. He wrote the script together with his friend Vin Diesel over an intensive weekend.

Good news: the central character is once again Captain Jack Sparrow. At the beginning, he returns from a cursed island that has changed him significantly. This has a major impact on the cast. Johnson comments:

"We all love Jack Sparrow. But unfortunately Johnny didn't want to be back. That's why we found this solution. I will be taking on the role of Sparrow myself. A voodoo spell has changed his appearance, but the fans will still get their beloved captain... just with a bit more muscle."

The film is entitled "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Rock of Gibraltar" and will be released next year. We're already looking forward to the first trailer!

Spider-Man Brand New Day: Leak reveals Sadie Sink's role

An incredible leak about "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is sweeping the internet. It's about the secret role of Sadie Sink – apparently the times for speculations are over. A trusted source from the crew of the mega blockbuster has now dropped the bombshell: She's actually playing Aunt May!

Allegedly, the makers were very impressed by the positive reactions to the younger version, previously played by Marisa Tomei. After her film death in "No Way Home", they probably saw the opportunity to rejuvenate the role even further. It is not known yet how the age difference to Peter Parker will be explained in the story. However, she will definitely be taking on a much more active role than before and will also be involved in numerous action sequences. We are excited!

Fast Forever: Final Fast & Furious part with time travel!

Fast Forever: We finally have information about the story and what the title of the film is all about! Vin Diesel has revealed in an interview: It's about time travel! A secret government project in the form of a sports car takes the family back to the year 2001.

There, they meet their younger selves and have to make sure that the raid on the vans with video recorders takes place as planned – otherwise the entire course of later history is in danger. The time travel also explains Vin Diesel's announcement that Paul Walker will be in the final film of the "Fast & Furious" series.

Going back to Part 1 has another advantage: it saves a lot of money. According to Diesel, numerous shots from the old film can simply be reused. The footage will be visually reworked using AI to match the modern viewing habits of digital recordings.

Gangsta Rap Demon Hunters: US remake of KPop Demon Hunters

A US remake of "KPop Demon Hunters" is coming! Sony Animation Studios have confirmed the production and also provided a reason for it: Compared to the original, the new version is going to be better adapted to the experiences and culture of Western audiences.

This has clear implications: The title of the adaptation is "Gangsta Rap Demon Hunters". The focus is on 3 young black women who have to protect their world from evil demons.

However, the elaborate animation work comes with a price: in order to be able to finance the production, work on another title has been put on hold for the time being: "Beyond the Spider-Verse". A person responsible, who does not wish to be named, said:

"Originality is important to us. There are already a lot of Spider-Man films. We simply have to prioritize."

However, those responsible are aware that Spider-Man fans are also waiting for more. That's why they are using a trick to significantly reduce the working time on "Gangsta Rap Demon Hunters".

"We learned from the last films that a reduced frame rate works extremely well and is very popular with viewers. That's why we're significantly reducing it again. That also saves a lot of work."

It is not yet known when "Gangsta Rap Demon Hunters" will be released on Netflix.

Once upon a Time in Washington with Melania Trump

Quentin Tarantino's final film has been announced! The title is "Once Upon a Time in Washington". The planned leading role in particular is likely to cause some discussion: it is none other than Melania Trump. Her strength and determination in the documentary "Melania" reportedly convinced the director so much that it directly inspired his final script.

"This is a woman who has both feet on the ground. What more could you want? What she says just makes sense. Do you know what I mean?"

The rest of the cast is not yet known. The director reportedly wants to get many original staff in the White House in front of the camera – he is convinced of their "acting talents".

For Tarantino, the shoot is also a race against time: according to him, nobody knows how long the Trumps will be in power. The great interest in Melania could disappear from one day to the next if he takes too much time producing the film. Production is therefore being rushed: "Once Upon a Time in Washington" is set to be released in cinemas before the midterm elections on November 3, 2026.

New Christopher Nolan film: Six-Seven

Christopher Nolan has announced his next film project after "The Odyssey". However, the subject is a huge surprise: after numerous sci-fi projects and historical material, this time the master director is venturing into an absolutely contemporary subject: the Six-Seven meme.

"What is it supposed to mean? Simply nothing? And what does it say about us as humanity that this senselessness is spreading so quickly and everywhere? Now that's what I call an exciting topic!"

For the script, he enlisted the help of old master Werner Herzog. According to Nolan, nobody has more experience in conjuring up a reflection of the human soul from the seemingly most banal things. It is not yet known when "Six-Seven" will be released in cinemas. However, numerous IMAX screens have already been reserved for 2028.

After Warner deal: Netflix and Paramount merge

Nobody expected this! Netflix and Paramount had been arguing for ages about who would take over the film giant Warner Bros. Now the sensation is complete: the two studios are simply merging and becoming a new mega-corporation! There are probably only disputes about the name: both "Paraflix" and "Netmount" are in the running.

Either way, there are big plans for the future: instead of only streaming new films, streaming will probably be brought to the cinema. Special in-house productions will then be shown around the clock on dedicated screens. These include various reality formats such as "Too Hot To Handle", but also the "Sonic" prequel spin-off series "The Young Adventures of Tom Wachowski".

New Star Trek series: Starfleet's Anatomy

A new "Star Trek" series is on the way! The aim is to build on the huge success of "Starfleet Academy". The creators have big ambitions: they want to tap into completely new target groups with this fresh project.

"For long enough, Star Trek has only been something for science fiction fans. We believe that the world of Starfleet has something to offer for everyone. And that's exactly why we're making 'Star Trek: Starfleet's Anatomy'."

The series focuses on young Starfleet doctors struggling with love and life in everyday hospital life in the 32nd century. According to those responsible, Star Trek is perfect for such a production: you have all the drama and passion, but much less blood due to the advanced technology. "Star Trek: Starfleet's Anatomy" will run exclusively on Paraflix or Netmount as soon as the planned merger of the two providers is completed.

We think: The news this week is really hard to believe. We wish you a happy April Fool's Day – your KinoCheck team!
