All Quiet on the Western Front Meets Dune: Director Edward Berger and Timothée Chalamet Team Up for a Movie
It is once again a Netflix production
Will this be the next Oscar hit? "All Quiet on the Western Front" director Edward Berger teams up with "Dune" star Timothée Chalamet to direct a big adventure.
Just earlier this year, Berger made German movie history with his interpretation of Erich Maria Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Front". His war drama won a whopping 9 Oscars, setting a new record for a German production.
Now the director will devote himself to another novel adaptation in a new collaboration with Netflix. This one was already realized once before in 1967 as a French-Italian production: "The Last Adventure" tells the story of two friends who have a penchant for daredevil actions. Manu is a sports pilot known for phenomenal feats, while Roland regularly attempts to set new records in drag racing. When the two of them meet the young artist Laetitia one day, the duo becomes a trio. However, this has the consequence that the group pushes itself into financial ruin. When initial rumors of a mysterious treasure make the rounds, the three see their chance and embark upon the adventure of a lifetime.
Timothée Chalamet has already been cast in one of the leading roles. He is considered one of Hollywood's biggest young talents and has already appeared in a number of impressive productions. Nothing is known about the casting of the other two characters yet.
It will certainly take a while before production of "The Last Adventure" can begin. However, not only those familiar with the novel should be pleased with the announcement of such a top-class project.
