Bad weather guaranteed: A new "Twister" film will be released next year, which, according to lead actor Glen Powell, will tell a completely independent story.

In an interview with Vogue, "Top Gun: Maverick" star Glen Powell revealed that a new "Twister" movie is coming. It is to tell an entirely independent story that has nothing to do with the original from the 90s. "Twisters" will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung, whose acclaimed drama "Minari" was already a hit. In addition to Powell, a number of other stars will be seen in the disaster film, including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Kiernan Shipka, Katy M. O'Brian and "Superman" actor David Corenswet.

As filming was completed "a few nights ago" according to Powell, the release date of July 19, 2024 seems realistic.
