Rumour: Walton Goggins in talks for the Street Fighter film
Eric André and country musician Orville Peck could also take on roles.
Hollywood is continuing its trend of adapting successful video game franchises for cinema and streaming. Now the popular fighting game "Street Fighter" is also set to receive a film adaptation – and "Fallout" star Walton Goggins is in talks for a role.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, the role is the antagonist M. Bison – a character played by Raúl Juliá in the first film version. The masked country musician Orville Peck could also take on a role. More specifically, it's about Vega – a mysterious fighter with a mask and claws. Comedian Eric André is expected to portray an energetic fight announcer who gets the audience going.
Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, superstar Jason Momoa and wrestling star Roman Reigns had already been confirmed as actors. Although an official cinema release date has yet to be announced, experts are expecting a release in late 2026 or early 2027. It also remains unclear who will write or produce the screenplay. However, the film will be directed by "Bad Trip" director Kitao Sakurai. He succeeds "Talk to Me" directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who joined the project in April 2023. However, they are no longer involved.
Walton Goggins: The most famous films and series of the versatile actor
Walton Goggins is one of Hollywood's most distinctive character actors. With his intense facial expressions, unique voice and ability to play both villains and tragic-comic characters with depth, he has earned himself a permanent place in the film and series landscape over the years. Goggins has been active since the 1990s, but his big breakthrough came with his role in the acclaimed series "The Shield". Since then, he has proven himself in numerous top-class productions – both on television and on the big screen.
The Shield (2002-2008)
Goggins' career really took off when he took on the role of impulsive detective Shane Vendrell in the police series "The Shield". The series about a corrupt special unit in Los Angeles was groundbreaking for the "anti-hero" TV drama genre. Goggins played the emotionally torn police officer with such force and humanity that he received widespread attention for the first time. His performance was highly praised by critics and laid the foundation for later roles.
Justified (2010-2015)
Goggins became even more popular with his role as Boyd Crowder in the neo-Western series "Justified". His character was actually supposed to die in the pilot episode, but Goggins played the charismatic, eloquent southern gangster so convincingly that he became the main character. His cat-and-mouse game with U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, played by Timothy Olyphant, became the heart of the series. Goggins was nominated several times for an Emmy for this role.
Django Unchained (2012)
In Quentin Tarantino's award-winning western "Django Unchained", Goggins played the supporting role of the sadistic Billy Crash – a brutal henchman on a slave plantation. Even though it was only a minor role, Goggins used every scene to leave a lasting impression. His talent for ambivalent and sinister characters was once again evident here – and earned him further roles in major Hollywood productions.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Two years later, Goggins worked with Tarantino again. In "The Hateful Eight", a western chamber drama, he took on the role of Chris Mannix, a self-appointed sheriff with murky motives. The film is heavily driven by dialog and offered Goggins a stage to show off his versatility and comedic timing. He is one of the film's acting highlights.

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Goggins has also found his place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In "Ant-Man and the Wasp", he played arms dealer Sonny Burch – a shady antagonist who stands out more through manipulation than brute force. Although the role is rather conventional, Goggins' striking presence ensured that Burch remained memorable despite his limited screen time.

The Righteous Gemstones (since 2019)
Goggins shows his humorous side in this HBO comedy series. As the eccentric preacher "Baby Billy Freeman", he delivers a performance that fluctuates somewhere between grotesque and tragic. The series is a satire on American megachurches – and Goggins is one of the comedic highlights.
Fallout (2024)
With the "Fallout" series, based on the video game franchise of the same name, Goggins once again proved his talent for unusual and iconic roles in 2024. As "The Ghoul" – an irradiated, mysterious character with cowboy charm and a dark past – he delighted fans and critics alike. The series was a huge streaming success and underlined Goggins' status as a versatile star.
Conclusion
Walton Goggins is an actor who can never be pinned down to one role. Whether as a cop, outlaw, preacher or post-apocalyptic anti-hero – he always manages to give his characters a special depth and personality. His reputation grows with every new production, and it will be interesting to see what extraordinary role he takes on next – for example as M. Bison in the upcoming "Street Fighter" film.
