New impressions from "Avatar: Fire and Ash": The entertainment magazine Empire has published another image for the third part of the blockbuster series. Quaritch actor Stephen Lang also revealed some new details about "Avatar 3".

Lang spoke in particular about the relationship between his character and his biological son Spider, played by Jack Champion. The image heralds another reunion between the two characters. As a reminder: Spider was not raised by Quaritch, but by Jake and Neytiri, and he already met his father in "Avatar: The Way of Water". Lang now explains that Quaritch and Spider will "reconnect out of necessity" in "Avatar 3". Despite his character's emotional coldness, the actor is convinced that he does have feelings for Spider.

"Spider confuses Quaritch. But Quaritch wants clarity. There is something about Spider that Quaritch really loves – not a word we associate with him. I think respect and admiration really develop in spades, as well as animosity and manipulation. The relationship will deepen – for better or worse."

So it will be interesting to see where the story of the two will lead in "Avatar: Fire and Ash". We will find out on December 19, 2025, as this is when the third part of the series finally opens in theaters.

When Will the Trailer for "Avatar 3" Be Released?

Fans of the series are still waiting for a first trailer. Over the past few months, new images have been released from time to time. Often an indication that a trailer won't be too long in coming. What's more, the first trailer for "Avatar 2" was released in May 2022 – with a film release in December 2022. This likewise suggests an imminent trailer release.

What Is Already Known?

The cast of "Avatar 3" is known for the most part. In addition to familiar characters such as Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and their children, there will also be new characters and clans. Director James Cameron has announced that each film will introduce new cultures to Pandora, with established characters remaining part of the ongoing story.

The focus will, of course, once again be on the Sully family, but Spider in particular is likely to be of increased importance following the events of "The Way of Water". Oona Chaplin ("Game of Thrones") takes on an important antagonist role as Varang. She is the leader of the Ash People – a warlike Na'vi clan that is closely linked to the element of fire. According to Cameron, she and her clan, which also includes Peylak (played by David Thewlis), embody a new moral gray area: not all humans are evil, and not all Na'vi are good.

Other characters from the previous movies also return: General Ardmore (Edie Falco), whale hunter Mick Scoresby, RDA boss Parker Selfridge, Dr. Ian Garvin, and Corporal Lyle Wainfleet, whose survival has now been confirmed. Of course, "Alien" legend Sigourney Weaver will also be back. For all further information, it's worth taking a look at our movie preview for "Avatar: Fire and Ash":
