Good news for all Trekkies! After years of back and forth, we finally have certainty - "Star Trek 4" is coming and now a new scriptwriter is to lead the project towards success.

Fans have been waiting eight years for another movie adventure from the Enterprise crew. The franchise is still going strong in the series department with series such as "Star Trek: Discovery" and "Strange New Worlds", but little has happened on the big screen since "Star Trek Beyond". At one point, "WandaVision" director Matt Shakman was seen as the great hope for "Star Trek 4". However, he left the production to devote himself to "The Fantastic Four" in the MCU. The future of the "Star Trek" franchise under Chris Pine and others was thus looking anything but promising.

But now there is finally some positive news to share: Because, as Variety reports, "Star Trek 4" is actually coming! Author Steve Yockey, who was last responsible for series such as "The Flight Attendant" and "Doom Patrol", has been hired to write the screenplay.

There are no details about the story yet, but part 4 is set to be the grand finale of the reboot series. It also remains unclear who will direct the film and who will return from the cast of the previous parts.
