Next on Netflix 2025: Hot news about Stranger Things, Squid Game 3 and much more!
The streaming giant's most exciting new projects at a glance!
The world's largest streaming service is once again making exciting headlines this year! Whether mystery, sci-fi, wrestling or thriller – there's something for everyone. We have summarized the latest announcements and highlights of the "Next on Netflix 2025" event for you!
The Duffer brothers and Stranger Things
The creative minds behind "Stranger Things", the Duffer brothers, are working on two new series: One of them is being created in collaboration with the directors of "Baby Reindeer". The other is a project that is still a long way off. However, the brothers also emphasized that the world of "Stranger Things" does not end with the final season and that there are many more stories to tell! So we're definitely hoping for at least one spin-off! The two directors also confirmed that the play "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" will also be performed on Broadway.
Big return of Squid Game
The third season of "Squid Game" has been given a release date: June 27, 2025. The successful South Korean series thus remains one of Netflix's flagship shows. "Squid Game" season 2 was viewed 68 million times worldwide within the first four days – an impressive record that surpasses even the previous frontrunner "Wednesday". 487.6 million hours were watched by viewers worldwide after its release.
Netflix & WWE
A new cooperation with the WWE is set to bring numerous worldwide live streams to Netflix. Wrestling fans can look forward to thrilling events and exclusive broadcasts. And while we're on the subject of sport: A documentary about Lukas Podolski is also set to be released soon. However, an exact start date has not yet been set.
New German productions
There is also news for German audiences: "How to sell Drugs Online (Fast)" Season 4: This will be released on Netflix on April 8!
Matthias Schweighöfer is also back with the science fiction thriller "Brick". The story is about an apartment building that is trapped overnight by a strange brick wall. The residents – played by Frederick Lau and Ruby O. Fee – among others must then fight for their lives. The premise is somewhat reminiscent of the horror film "Cube".
Horror and thriller on Netflix
The French also have a lot to offer: "Delicious" is a psychological thriller with strong horror elements on the schedule, somewhat reminiscent of "Parasite", but in brutal. The film tells the story of a domestic helper who obsessively integrates herself into a family and seduces its members. There is much to suggest that there will be a dark ending including cannibalism.
Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein", on the other hand, came with a first trailer, which was presented to visitors on site. As with previous del Toro films, it is once again set to be a visual spectacle. The role of Viktor Frankenstein will be played by Oscar Isaac. Also appearing will be "X" star Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, "All Quiet on the Western Front" actor Felix Kammerer and Lars Mikkelsen. The role of the monster was originally intended for Andrew Garfield, but ultimately went to Jacob Elordi. An exact release date for the new "Frankenstein" adaptation has yet to be set.
News from Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
The popular duo Matt Damon & Ben Affleck are teaming up again and are back with the thriller "RIP". The film is described as a kind of "Training Day" version. Particularly striking: during a live broadcast, Ben Affleck himself seemed only moderately enthusiastic about his own movie. Whether this is a bad sign remains to be seen.
Netflix will therefore remain one of the most exciting platforms for series and film fans in 2025. And one thing is pretty certain: there will be some more exciting projects to come. On February 11, for example, we can expect the animated film "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep". The hit series "You" also returns with season 5 and there are also new adventures from "Wednesday". And "Stranger Things" is starting its grand finale – initial rumors point to a release on November 27.
