New Location and Director for Amazon's "Blade Runner 2099"
Ridley Scott will work as a producer
News from Amazon's "Blade Runner" series: After last year's actors' and writers' strike disrupted plans for the sequel, the project is now back on track.
The series was originally supposed to be shot in Belfast last summer. However, the writers' strike that took place at the time led to a disruption in production, which, according to Northern Ireland Screen, is expected to last until April 2024. The show's studio, Alcon, has since moved production to Prague - a popular location for the making of major science fiction series.
As Deadline reports, Amazon has now secured Jonathan van Tulleken as director and executive producer for "Blade Runner 2099". Van Tulleken has primarily made a name for himself in the series sector, for example with productions such as "The Changeling" and currently "Shogun".
From the title, you can already guess that the series is set 50 years after the critics' favorite "Blade Runner 2049" by Denis Villeneuve, but there are no further details about the plot or cast yet.
