The Actress Playing the Manipulative Mother Gothel Has Been Revealed
The live-action film adaptation of "Tangled" continues to take shape. The main actors for Rapunzel and Flynn Rider have already been found. In the meantime, the decision has also been made for another central character: The casting of the manipulative Mother Gothel has now been finalized.
Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel
We are talking about Kathryn Hahn. The actress is particularly well-known to Marvel fans. Hahn appeared in the acclaimed MCU series "WandaVision" and later even got her own spin-off with "Agatha All Along".
As Mother Gothel, she now becomes the antagonist who keeps Rapunzel in the tower for selfish reasons. Hahn has already been linked to the role in the past. In the meantime, there were also rumors about the casting of superstar Scarlett Johansson. But now everything is clear: Hahn confirmed her casting via social media.
The cast of the Tangled live-action adaptation
Rapunzel will be played by Australian actress Teagan Croft. DC fans may know her as Raven from the "Titans" series. Milo Manheim will be seen as Flynn Rider. Singing should be no problem for him, as he is known for Disney's musical "Zombies" series. The film is being directed by Michael Gracey, the director of "The Greatest Showman". It is not yet known when the "Tangled" adaptation will find its way into cinemas.

Kathryn Hahn
Kathryn Hahn has been a sought-after character actress for many years and has appeared in numerous films and series. However, she is not only known for "WandaVision" and "Agatha All Along". She has also made a name for herself in the cinema. She was seen in the comedy "We are the Millers". She was also part of the top-class ensemble of the "Knives Out" sequel "Glass Onion". Hahn took on roles in films such as "Bad Moms" and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" as well.
In addition to her comedic roles, Hahn also regularly impresses in series productions. In the award-winning Amazon series "Transparent", she was a regular cast member for several seasons and showed her talent for more complex, dramatic characters.
Tangled: the animated film
The upcoming live-action adaptation is based on the Disney animated film. The film was released in 2010 and is still one of the most popular modern Disney animated productions. The story is loosely based on the fairy tale "Rapunzel" by the Brothers Grimm, but interprets the original in a much more modern way.
The focus is on the young princess Rapunzel, who has been held captive in a remote tower by the manipulative Gothel since childhood. The reason: Gothel's magical youth is linked to Rapunzel's exceptionally long, healing hair. When the charming thief Flynn Rider accidentally ends up in her tower, Rapunzel seizes her chance. Together, the two set off on an adventure across the kingdom while being pursued by royal guards, a gang of villains and, of course, Mother Gothel.

Why Tangled is still popular
The constellation of characters was crucial to the film's success. The dynamic relationship between Rapunzel and the charmingly ironic thief Flynn Rider takes center stage. The constellation delivers humor, romance and emotional development. Flynn Rider deliberately breaks with the classic image of the Disney prince – it is precisely this unconventional approach that has made him one of the studio's most popular male characters. The ensemble is also enriched by striking supporting characters such as the chameleon Pascal and the horse Maximus.
The film's music also plays a central role. The songs have long been part of the modern Disney classic canon. They convey emotions, drive the plot forward and still contribute significantly to the film's enduring popularity today.
With the planned movie, "Tangled" now joins Disney's series of live-action adaptations of classic animated films – similar to "Aladdin", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Snow White". However, it remains to be seen whether the new version can capture the charm of the animated film.
