News from the king of monsters: After the Japanese blockbuster "Godzilla Minus One" won over the hearts of all Godzilla fans, demands for a sequel are gradually increasing. Now director Takashi Yamazaki himself has spoken out.

In an interview with Empire, Yamazaki revealed that the ending of part 1 was possibly just the calm before the storm. Although there is no official confirmation yet, he expressed his curiosity about the future of Shikishima and Noriko on one side and Godzilla on the other.

The question about the gathering storm raises speculation about the possible new dangers. Given the Toho monster tradition, more iconic creatures could step into the spotlight. For Yamazaki, however, it is important to maintain a balance between human drama and spectacular kaiju battles. According to the director, the challenge is to combine a serious tone of kaiju versus kaiju with a deep human story. Yamazaki is aware that it would be easy to focus only on the huge spectacle of the monster fights and ignore the human aspects - but this would not be in his spirit.

The love for the original made "Godzilla Minus One" a true cinematic sensation that delighted critics and fans alike. There is also a good chance that the giant lizard will also take home the Oscar for Best Visual Effects on March 10, 2024. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
