"Man on Fire" Becomes a Series
The series is to be based on the first two books by author A. J. Quinnells
In 2004, Tony Scott released "Man on Fire", a hard-hitting thriller in which Denzel Washington embarks on an action-packed rescue mission. 20 years later, the story of the ex-mercenary is to be remade in the form of a series.
As Deadline reports, Emmy award-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play the lead role in the series version of "Man on Fire". He was last seen as Black Manta in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom". The plot of the eight-part series is to be based on the first two books by author A. J. Quinnells. These were adapted into two films in 1987 and 2004. Steven Caple Jr. – known for "Creed 2" and the seventh part of the "Transformers" film series "Rise of the Beasts" – will be responsible for directing. The script for the series was written by Kyle Killen, who previously worked on the horror series "Fear Street" and "The Beaver" with Mel Gibson. Killen will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. A release date for Man on Fire has not yet been set.
