A dream come true for all "The Lord of the Rings" fans: one of the most popular characters from Tolkien's fantasy world will be appearing in the second season of "The Rings of Power": We're talking about Tom Bombadil!

Bombadil is described in Tolkien's works as one of the oldest beings in the whole of Middle-earth. Together with his wife Goldberry, he lives in the Old Forest, to the east of the Shire. In appearance, Bombadil resembles a hobbit, only much taller and chubbier. He also has a preference for colorful outfits: his battered hat, blue coat and green leather trousers are particularly eye-catching. In the previous movie adaptations of "The Lord of the Rings", however, the character was neglected - both in the 1978 animated film and in Peter Jackson's trilogy.

That is now set to change: As Vanity Fair announced, we will actually get to see the loveable character in the second season of "The Rings of Power". A series of exclusively published images give us a first impression of the character's look: for example, we see Bombadil, played by Rory Kinnear, in the company of the mysterious stranger from the first season.

What role Tom Bombadil will play in the plot of "The Rings of Power" remains unclear at present. However, showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay provided a clue in an interview: Bombadil's story is said to be tightly linked to the mysterious changes in Rhûn. The place where Nori and the Stranger end up at the end of season 1.

The second season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" will be available on Amazon Prime Video from August 29 this year. You can watch the first trailer on our channel.
