Filming in London begins this month

Casting additions for part 4 of the "Jurassic World" film series: alongside Scarlett Johansson, "Bridgerton" actor Jonathan Bailey and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, another star will now be featured in the action blockbuster: We're talking about Rupert Friend.

Friend most recently attracted greater attention through his appearances in the Wes Anderson films "The French Dispatch" and "Asteroid City", and also played the Grand Inquisitor in the Disney+ series "Obi-Wan Kenobi". Which character he will play in "Jurassic World 4" is still a well-kept secret. However, initial clues point to a leading role. It may be the role that Glen Powell recently turned down, as, according to his own statement, he did not see himself as an asset to the film, even though the script was quite compelling.

It is still unclear how the new movie will tie in with the previous "Jurassic World" movies. Part 4 will be set in the same universe, but will tell a whole new story with new characters. "Godzilla" and "The Creator" filmmaker Gareth Edwards will direct, while the screenplay was penned by "Jurassic Park" veteran David Koepp. Filming is scheduled to begin this month in London, with a planned theatrical release of "Jurassic World 4" on July 2, 2025.
