Action fans enjoy many old and new faces

The theatrical release of "The Expendables 4" is getting closer and the fans of rough-legged action with star appeal had to wait a long time for moving pictures of the upcoming sequel. Now the first "Expend4bles" trailer is finally here and promises to deliver everything the series around Sylvester Stallone is known for.

The trailer starts off quite intimately: newcomer Megan Fox surprises Jason Statham while looking at confidential documents. The two are or were obviously a couple and the following fight turns out to be extremely...passionate. In the next scene, Sylvester Stallone aka Barney Ross shows up to pick up his buddy Lee Christmas - a new job is coming up. In a hall the new fighter is introduced, played by "50 Cent" Curtis Jackson. Support is urgently needed, because: Terrorists have captured nuclear weapons on a cargo ship, World War 3 is looming.

Time for the action montage: It is flown, driven, shot, hit and kicked, even a huge ship may put down a drift in the water. The new villain, played by martial arts legend Iko Uwais, gets into a proper fight with Christmas and wonders, "Is that the biggest knife you've got?" Answer: "Even bigger than that!" Wink, title insert: "Expend4bles."

The new film again has a decent star lineup to offer: In addition to the aforementioned faces, it also features Tony Jaa, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran and Andy Garcia. The motto this time is "They'll die when they're dead." A harbinger of the fate of Barney Ross, who passes the baton to Lee Christmas in this film? "The Expendables 4" opens in theaters on Sept. 22, 2023.
