The screenplay comes from Taylor Sheridan, known for "Yellowstone" and "Sicario". There is no release date for the "Call of Duty" movie yet – but we are guessing summer 2027.

Peter Berg: A filmmaker between action, emotion and reality

Over the past two decades, Peter Berg has established himself as one of Hollywood's most distinctive directors. His films are characterized by intense action, human depth and a documentary-like style that draws the audience right into the action. Whether war drama, disaster film or sports story – Berg knows how to place real events and believable characters at the center of his productions. An overview of his best-known films shows how versatile and consistent his work is.

Friday Night Lights (2004): The breakthrough with heart and a sense of reality

Peter Berg's final breakthrough as a director came with "Friday Night Lights". The film is based on true events and tells the story of a high school football team in Texas whose sporting success becomes the focus of the entire community. Berg succeeds in capturing the immense pressure on young players in touching scenes. At the same time, he sheds light on the social problems of a small town that demands everything from its sporting heroes. The film was so successful that it was later turned into a celebrated TV series. "Friday Night Lights" shows very clearly how strongly Berg can combine human stories with sporting drama.

The Kingdom (2007): A political thriller with nerve-wracking intensity

With "The Kingdom", Berg delved into the genre of the political thriller. The film is about an FBI team investigating a terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia. The plot combines political tension, cultural conflicts and gripping action sequences. The final confrontation in particular is one of the most intense action scenes of the 2000s. Berg manages to portray the complex interplay between Western and Middle Eastern culture without neglecting the tension. "The Kingdom" established Berg as a director who is not afraid to tackle controversial topics.

Hancock (2008): An unconventional superhero in the movies

With "Hancock", Peter Berg took an unusual step towards blockbuster cinema. The film tells the story of an alcoholic superhero who causes more chaos than he prevents. Will Smith embodies the main character in a humorous yet tragic way, giving the film a special blend of comedy, action and drama. Although the tone of the film was not without controversy, "Hancock" enjoyed enormous commercial success. Berg proved that he could not only direct realistic dramas, but also great, mass appeal films with an innovative basic idea.

Battleship (2012): Great sci-fi spectacle with military precision

The film "Battleship" was Peter Berg's biggest project to date. The sci-fi action film is about an alien invasion that has to be repelled by the US Navy. The film features spectacular effects and gigantic battles on the open sea. Even though "Battleship" received a mixed reception from critics, Berg clearly demonstrates his ability to stage large-scale action sequences with military precision. The film paved the way for further projects with similar technical and logical complexity.

Lone Survivor (2013): One of the most defining war dramas of its time

With "Lone Survivor", Peter Berg achieved an internationally acclaimed success. The film is based on the memoirs of Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the only survivor of a failed counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan. The film relentlessly shows the brutality of combat and the physical and psychological strain on the soldiers. Berg deliberately avoids exaggerated patriotism and instead focuses on comradeship, willingness to make sacrifices and moral conflicts. The film was praised for its authenticity and is now one of the most important war films of the decade.

Deepwater Horizon (2016): A disaster told in human terms

With "Deepwater Horizon", Berg dedicated himself to the explosion of an oil platform in 2010, which led to one of the biggest environmental disasters in US history. The film focuses on the workers on the platform and impressively shows how they fight for their lives in the face of the disaster. Berg combines realistic effects with emotional depth and manages to portray the technical complexity of the events in an understandable way. The performance of Mark Wahlberg, who frequently works with Berg, is considered one of his best roles.

"Mile 22" impresses with its uncompromising action, fast cuts and more intense toughness than many other mountain films. Despite divided reactions, many praised the energetic staging and dynamic fight sequences. The film shows Berg's ability to combine modern military action with technical precision and high tension.
