Overview
The county of Donegal was once nicknamed "The Forgotten County" by its own politicians - and has not been able to shake it off to this day. It lies at the very top of the westernmost tip of Ireland - and it's fitting that Robert Lorenz ("Back In The Game") has set his fatalistic, melancholy thriller drama right here: after all, "In The Land Of Saints And Sinners" feels like a western despite its 1974 setting - from the protagonists to the set-up to the final shootout in the local pub, except that it's called a pub instead of a saloon. As an ex-soldier and hitman, Liam Neeson ("Retribution") embodies the archetype of the aging gunslinger who wants to do something meaningful with his remaining time. In the process, he clashes with a group of gangsters.
