Top Gun Ratings & Reviews
- Eldon McGuinnessFebruary 17, 2025A classic military film featuring some of the most stunning footage available. There is no lack of adrenaline-pumping action, accompanied by a soundtrack that will have your heart racing in sync. It presents a timeless narrative of improbable success and heart-wrenching loss, interwoven with the roar of engines and thrill of conflict.
- AjayMay 26, 2025A good story with heart, loss and great cinematics to go with a great score. But, compared to modern films, the original doesn't hold up as well as it used to, and for new viewers is one and a half hours of tropes they've seen and scenes that've been bested by other films - like the sequel.
- Charles LondonApril 7, 2025I first saw this movie when it was released to theaters in 1986. The flight sequences were electrifying and spectacular. It felt like you were up in the air flying with the planes. The scenes in between however, were a lot less spectacular, especially the Hollywood love-story which felt contrived and unbelievable. I would liken the experience to visiting a theme park on a crowded day. Going on the big rides is thrilling, but the waiting lines in between, not so much. All in all though, it's a fun time. Streaming the movie today on a home screen doesn't quite recreate the theater experience. The soundtrack is still just as impressive and the flight sequences still look prertty darn good, but they loose half a star on a smaller screen. As for the rest of the film... well, it still is what it is, a queue between thrill rides.

- RyezooFebruary 15, 2025Highway to the Safe Zone! Thought this was patriotic enough to watch for the first time on the 4th! I have mixed feelings after finally getting around to watching this! The good.... Tom Cruise, pretty cinematography, and the killer 80's soundtrack! The bad.... takes to much time to get going... some of the acting is stiff... and found action to sometimes be incomprehensible. I still found loads to appreciate and seeing a sequel in current times could be awesome!
