Europa Passage
Overview
"Thank you! All the best to la Familia!" Maria sits in front of a discount store, an empty coffee cup in her hand. Few give her anything, but she patiently perseveres. Her husband Tirloi is also begging, in a different place. He now prefers to stay in Germany rather than Romania, but Maria longs for her granddaughter. She commutes regularly with relatives to her homeland, where there is no work except for tying brushwood brooms for a few cents. Over five years, Andrei Schwartz follows the lives of a group of Roma in Hamburg on the streets and at home in the village, with all its difficulties and glimpses of light. A touching portrait of people who defy every adversity and try to build a piece of normality for themselves.
