- LivewireAdminApril 3, 2025I remember this one being pretty good. I had never seen the first Annabelle but I can now confidently say this sequel was better than the first. What's impressive here is that the main cast are pretty much all children and all girls. I feel like you don't see that very often. I think the scares were better in this one than in the first which again, I credit that to the fact that this movie's characters were vulnerable children where Annabelle was a married couple being tormented. Creation was also contained to one house for the majority of it's runtime so we the viewers were able to get a good lay of the land. All of these movies, by nature of being horror, tend to end on an ominous tone but this one was downright bleak. It led in nicely to the first Annabelle though so that was cool. Annabelle: - 4 out of 5 - much creepier this time around. - the doll, the demon entity itself, possessed Janice, the scarecrow, ghost Bee.....all pretty scary. - the pre-titles scene in this.....brutal. - some good horror set pieces in this throughout - the dumbwaiter, the barn and the chair lift.
- RyezooFebruary 15, 2025Light years better than the first one! So let me start off by saying this is the first time going to see a movie in dbox seats and I have mixed feelings. They were synced really well with the movie and did help create a immersive experience. The only problem was I was thinking about the chair moving every time it did for a few seconds that did take me out of the movie. My girlfriend hated it due to the fact that she was going to be scared regardless of her eyes being closed due to movement. Now onto the movie. A prequel to a prequel that is way better than it ever had to be! This movie actually had good characters, great cinematography, and some pretty well earned scares. I loved all the nods to the "universe" it's created and really am looking forward to the next chapter. I felt they expanded on the mythology in a positive way and the nun is set up perfectly. The first act was a little slow but once it hits that halfway point it shifts into first gear. Definitely check this one out!
